It's possible to get a Yurt by just showing up in the winter; by using the call box at the entrance despite the two employees of the campground telling us "you have to book online", "you can't just show up and and stay in a Yurt.", Save the $10 online booking fee and use the phone booking either before visiting or at the park if the booth is closed. No other Yurts were being used during Presidents Day 2018. I'd give 5 stars but the Mr. Lahey, and the Randy of this park weren't helpful at all... Yurts were great, nice trails with big trees to walk around.

Was able to get a last minute site without a reservation on a Wednesday evening in August. Lots of great sites to choose from, mine was very private. Ranger station sold firewood. Beautiful drive to Mt. St. Helens from here.

Great for winter camping when there aren’t as many people. Really nice facilities

Just got home from a four day, three night stay here and couldn't be happier! We showed up Friday late afternoon after discovering a private campground down the road we had initially planned to stay at was not suitable for our families. We got so lucky to get two adjoining spots! We had two families and two dogs with us, and the seclusion of the forest around us is exactly what we were looking for. The kids had a blast playing on the playground, parents got to play horseshoes (you can rent them), and the well maintained roads were perfect for the kids on their bikes. The hiking trails are gorgeous and won't leave you disappointed! Bathrooms are very well maintained and cleaned twice daily.. this was a very family friendly park, can't wait to to back!

If you want to hike or enjoy hiking, this is not the place. However, if you are camping there with children, it is good.
