I have been coming here for over two years and wouldn't go anywhere else. The employees are extremely friendly and whether you choose the same hair dresser each time or not, all of the other employees recognize and greet you as if you were their own client. Everyone acts very professional but at the same time it feels like you are going to catch up with some friends who you havent seen in a month or so. Each stylist and receptionist is very informative on all of the latest hair products and such. I must agree with Winnie - Michele, Cindy, and Jon are all great and very dependable on the work they do. There is also Cheryl and Annie who are both great at what they do after more than 25 years of cutting hair. Cheryl also gives awesome pedicures and manicures (my mom often gets them and extremely happy with both of them) I am constantly recommending this salon to all of my friends and recommend it to anyone who reads this rating!

Self Essentials is a fun, friendly place. Cheryl has been cutting and highlighting my hair for at least 5 years and she does a fantastic job each and every time. Everyone is extremely professional and I always look forward to my visits. I never miss a chance to recommend this salon to my friends and family.

Ok. No joke, BEST SALON in the state of Rhode Island. I used to go to URI and the four years I lived in Narragansett I went here. Since I moved back home to northern RI I have not found another salon that I like even half as much as Self Essentials - and trust me - I have been to salons in Providence, Smithfield, Johnston, Warwick, Lincoln, even East Greenwich. They are all more expensive and want to just throw color on my head and rush through it. The girls at Self Essentials actually listened to me and would discuss with me all my options and the details of whichever procedure they were going to do. Everywhere else I have gone to I have had the worst luck; I would end up paying for a highlighting job I didn't like then I would have to go to another salon to get a semi-permanent color over it to fix it (and have to pay full price again). Their prices are so reasonable too and if you want a special product that isn't stocked on their shelves they will order it for you. I'm such a Rhode Islander, not wanting to drive somewhere that is longer than 10 minutes away. However, after two years of terrible luck with hair stylists, I decided to suck it up and make another appointment at Self Essentials. It's DEFINITELY worth the 50 minute drive!!!
