Mike McGuire recently sponsored SB 987, which will impose an extra 15% tax on medical cannabis statewide.  The purpose of this would seem to be to make it more and more difficult for medical cannabis patients to be able to afford their medicine.  Translation:  this bill is aimed at poor people.  Rich people don't care how much the stuff costs, they just buy it.  Maybe McGuire is hoping that the poor people will return, tail between their legs, to the pharmaceutical industry, the most likely source of funding for this bill.  My conclusion:  they must be using Diebold election rigging machines over there in Ukiah.
