Story

Service Line Warranties of America is headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and operates under the umbrella of Utility Service Partners. Formed in 1996, we are one of the nation's largest and most trusted sources of utility line warranties and we are proud to be selected by the National League of Cities as a warranty service provider. The National League of Cities, representing over 218 million Americans, is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.

Service Line Warranties of America works with local municipalities and cities to bring our warranties to the local homeowners. The program is offered at no cost to the Cities and no public funds are used to promote or operate the program. SLWA is solely responsible for the administration and service of the warranty programs.

We strongly believe that customer service is the cornerstone of our continued success. We have worked hard to build a network of professional contractors that we trust to handle your utility repairs. At this time, we are licensed to conduct business in 47 of the contiguous states. We are actively expanding our footprint so if you do not see your community covered, we urge you to contact your local representatives to let them know you are interested in our products.

The process of getting utility line coverage really is as simple as it sounds. You sign up for service and after a nominal waiting period (usually 30 days, unless otherwise noted), we cover you if your lines leak or fail from weather, tree roots, time or multiple other reasons. All you have to do is call.

I really can't say much about this company, but I wonder if anyone works there. I tried to subscibe to their service. On Monday I tried calling them twice and was on hold for over 20 mins both times. I finally tried the method of leaving your name and phone number so they could call me back. That was 2 days ago and I have yet to receive a call. If I can't get a hold of a person to sign up for their service, then I have to wonder what happens if I had to call them for a claim. No thanks!

Beware. Horrible company. After signing up, I never received the terms and conditions for the lines I had covered, nor did I receive any information about how I would be billed. Even after calling and requesting the necessary paperwork several times, it was never sent. Each rep had a different response for me as to why the documents had not been sent. I cancelled my service.

Incredibly horrible service. I contacted SLWA on Wednesday 8/30 at 8:30am. I reported a break in my main sewer line. I was told a contractor would call me within 90 minutes. No calls. I called back to SLWA a total of four times on 8/30. No contractor ever called. During those calls with various "customer service" representatives, I was told that the contractor would be calling soon, that I should not call the contractor myself, and that the contractor would "definitely call by this evening." It never happened. SLWA told me that a contractor was required to visit my home within 24 hours. Didn't happen. On Thursday, 8/31 at 8am, I called SWLA again. A contractor called at 8:30 and said they would be at my house between 1-5pm. Tusa's Plumbing in Dallas, TX came to my home at about 3pm on 9/1. The technician acted like everything about this service call was a bother to him. Tusa's plumbing never communicated to me anything that they did. I called SLWA around 5pm and asked for the status. SLWA could not tell me anything. I called numerous additional times and was told that my case was being "escalated." No resolutions and no course of action was communicated to me on 8/31. On Friday, 9/1, I started calling SLWA again. Multiple calls to them again on Friday. I was promised that a new contractor was assigned because Tusa's Plumbing was not able to help. I was told that the new contractor would schedule an appointment with me on 9/1. I received a call from the new contractor "Drain & Plumbing" of Dallas, TX at about 6pm on 9/1 saying that the technician who would be visiting my home would call me yet that night. He never did. On Saturday, 9/2, Drain & Plumbing arrived at my house around 8:45am without calling or scheduling an appointment. Luckily, I was home. They put a scope in my main sewer line and found that it was broken. They pointed a green "X" that had been spray painted by Tusa's plumbing two days earlier at exactly the point where the break in the sewer line was. "Drain & Plumbing" advised they would be calling SLWA to advise them of what they found and seek authorization. They left around 9:15am. I just called SLWA and asked for an update because, of course, I had received no communication from them. The "customer service" specialist I just spoke with promised again another "escalation" request but had nothing to tell me. To recap, I have not had a functioning sewer main since Wednesday, 8/30. SLWA has sent two technicians, who have both apparently found the same problem but have done nothing about it. SLWA is one of poorest companies I have EVER dealt with regarding communication or concern for their customers. Their guarantees are absolutely baseless and worthless. I strongly caution anyone against purchasing the services of SLWA. I have been a SLWA customer for over five years, and the above story is what I have to show for my loyalty and patronage to this deplorable company.

After having all the lines in my house back up, I called Service Line Warranties. Although I only had the contract a few months, they promptly sent out a company which had to replace my lines between the house and the road, and my clean-out drain. It has been several years, and I have not had another problem. I can not express my gratitude and satisfaction with this service.
