After hiking up House Mountain the day before, I was looking forward to another nice hike in a wooded area. This place is not that but it was still a nice hike and had some good photo opportunities. I didn't see many exciting birds, but I was there in the middle of mid day heat and they were probably hiding out. After parking at the front, I hiked down the main paved road and found the entrance to the loop path. I followed a nicely mowed and about 6' wide path along a field. There wasn't much cover so the sun is HOT and there seemed to be a number of horse flies to keep me on my toes, but I still got a couple of cool insect shots. I then headed down a little canopy area next to the river, almost swamp like. It was cool but would have been nice to know that it deadended. After turning around, I went through another little canopy area and ran across a couple of deer. Not sure who scared who more but I got a cool picture after they ran about 30' away and then turned to watch me. I then hiked up the side of the mountain, a bit strenuous (especially after my legs were dead from the day before) but not horrible and led to a nice field with a good overview of the area. Finally I followed the path back around to where it started (in full sun the whole way) and ended my day, pretty tired and definitely hot, but with a couple of cool pictures to take home. All in all, not a bad day.

Beautiful place, recently finished. The walks here are great, the ecology education one can receive here is top notch. Seven Islands also employs a lot of local graduates, which is nice to see as well.

I really enjoyed a morning hike along one of the trails here. I plan a return visit! The trails were well maintained with lots to see!

Such a beautiful place to spend a morning. Lots of trails to take. Some easier than others. I decided to take the longest loop which ended up being 5.30 miles. There are benches along the way to sit and enjoy the beauty all around. Be sure to take water and sunscreen.

Fabulous park. I went for the first time today and it was a special morning "learning about dragon flys". There were about 9 of us and our guide & instructor Mark. You can go to this park anytime and u don't need to wait for a class. There is no admission fee. Lots of paths to walk on and also paved biking trail to river. There is also a boat ramp. There were a few kayaks & canoes. Scenery beautiful. While you do have views of mountains in distance this more woods, meadows, ponds and river. Lots of various flowers, birds, insects, butterflies, Dragon flys and the such. Kids found some frogs and were very excited. You can go on their web page for dates of various events. There were some benches at more scenic spots. I can't wait to go back. We are so lucky to have this park in East TN.
