I love sm park. We mainly go for the dog park, which is great, but we went there to go fishing and had a lot of fun. It's a very nice place to hang out with the kiddos. Amenities include: a swimming beach, very large off leash dog park, canoe rentals, archery range (I think it's still there), large lake, endless amounts of open space, and shelters you can rent. There are restrooms throughout the park as well. It's nice

Beautiful park with a lot of options. Full golf course that's above average IMO. Foot golf course, disc golf course. Lake stocked with fish including trout in the spring. Plus another small pond or two. You need a special permit to fish in the park, available at the park office. Beach opens in summer, along with canoe/kayak/paddle boat rentals. Trails everywhere, both paved and dirt. Boat ramp, but you can't use your gas engine, only electric trolling motor to get around and you need a special park permit for your boat available at the park office. A nice selection of mountain bike trails from beginner to advanced, miles of them. You can rent/reserve shelters and have camp fires in designated areas. No overnight camping except for the occasional special events they sometimes have, but that's maybe once a year. A lot of wildlife. You're likely to see deer and turkeys. Several playgrounds for the kiddos. Overall one of the best parks in the KC area.

You will be busted here if you speed---the park police here are not your friendly park police---I ONLY ever see them ticketing people. NOT welcoming, AT ALL. Even if they think you're going 5 miles over... WATCH IT, THEY HAVE RADAR---even if you're gently coasting down those hills, kids! The park police here have a FLEET of vehicles that they will deploy, even on the foulest, 20 degree winter weather days--- and you're the only one around. One 20* day I counted FIVE police vehicles, and saw only 3 people in the 2 hours I was there in the freezing weather to go fishing at the lake. They probably scheduled ahead a LOAD of park police here to issue moneymaking tickets because they thought it would be a GREAT Spring day to bust a lot of people. I have lived within 5 miles of this park for 10 years and it is the ONLY place some members of my family have been issued speeding tickets. SERIOUSLY. I tried to warn the only other moving vehicle I saw the day I was last in that park to SLOW DOWN (they were maybe going 30-35MPH)....but they got a ticket on that frigid day. Good Grief. I get the speeding enforcement need, but this is over the top way to earn quotas. Also...they state they use radar here to check speed---but their website has no park police/safety link working anymore. I get it---this park gets very crowded and that is a time to implement park police as friendly safety help, but their fleet seems out to just make $$ of of the most minor of infractions, but they do not seem there when you need friendly help.

I enjoy this park so much. My family has been visiting this park for a very long time. There have been a lot of new features the park has to offer. Great place for family and friends.

Beautiful and stunning park for lots of fun and great outdoors activities with friends and family! You might encounter a unexpected Sasquatch while hiking! The good things about this great park is gold nuggets in the creek! ☺
