Good Food, Fresh Food, But dirt, dusty and lack luster server. I wanted to give this place a better review because the food was actually good and its local, however, the place was a mess. The floor was not vacuumed The cups had crumbs on it The napkins had spots on them Nothing seemed wiped The fish tank was filthy, and the plates didn't seem cleaned properly. The waiter seemed kind of out of it when we asked for different cleaner napkins and new chopsticks, for some reason the chopsticks were on the napkin and looked used, like washed and these are the kind of take out chopsticks. I ate as fast as I could and left to get a drink from another place. I hope the restaurant can get a once over and clean up, other than that I will stay clear from here. The customers should demand better, you are eating there. It should be cleaner.
Sticky table, wet chopsticks as if they've been reused and washed, and the place is generally filthy. Whole dining room smells as if the rug has never been vacuumed. Uncooked rolls came out concerningly warm and mine came out on a splintered wooden board. I don't write a lot of bad reviews but I'd definitely steer clear.
Update: they continue to impress! Waitress was UNBELIEVABLE. The variety of food we had was awesome. I had yakimandu and hot noodles... exactly what i was craving. Older: What dont I love about this place. Food is fresh and traditional. Love the family atmosphere.
Ordered takeaway on a Friday night and the food was delicious. Sushi was excellent and the Korean dishes were all very nice. Cannot wait to try more items on the menu. Surprised to see negative reviews on here. Our experience was perfect.
I visited this restaurant for lunch during the past week. I don't understand how people are posting positive things about the food. The number one issue is the cleanliness. I'm horrified I even stayed. The owners should be ashamed. No pride. The floors in front of the kitchen and bathroom filthy. Bathroom filthy. Carpet filthy. paint the walls. Dirty. The food was terrible too. No pride. I had the beef terriyaki. A lot of fat on the meat. Also, how are you reusing wooden chopsticks? I did not use them and asked for a fork which I cleaned myself. It's not hygenic. The wood is porous. I also did not drink out of the water cup. It did not look clean. I asked for a coke and cleaned the can myself. I hope the owners read this and clean their restaurant. I hate to give such a bad review, but it was probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to.
Shin-La? More like Shin-LAME. Two friends and I decided to try this place out on a whim, and boy what a mistake that was. The sushi wasn’t half bad but it certainly didn’t make up for the lack of customer service and restaurant etiquette. Our food all came out at different times, my steamed tofu taking over a hour because they forgot to make it. Our waters didn’t get refilled until about 10 minutes before we left after being there for about a hour and 45 minutes. And when one of my friends asked for another pair of chopsticks he was asked “the disposable ones?” Meaning the chopsticks provided are being washed and reused. Because wood is so porous I fear there is no way to get them completely clean.
First, the good parts: the waiter was very good, attentive and enthusiastic. Very accommodating with our specific dietary needs. And the food tasted great, although they didn't put out banchan with the bibimbap. Now, the bad: the grunginess is out of control. Chopsticks set on the table were clearly cheap takeout chopsticks that had been washed many times & were still damp from the last wash. Teacups were so old that it's impossible to wash off the stains. And the whole restaurant needs to be refreshed especially replace the carpet. I've eaten in plenty of family-run Korean restaurants that are a little bit dingy. That's part of their charm. But it's just grimy in here. Once you've resolved the cleanliness problem, how about introducing Brattleboro to stainless steel chopsticks that are popular in Korea? Easy to sterilize, last forever. And serve banchan with the Korean dishes, too.
I still cannot get over the shocking experience here . I am korean and I didnot expect a top notch quality food from VT vs NY and NJ with lots of korean restaurants. Although, how do I get a soup yukgaejang without a rice? Koreans eat soup, not as a side dish perhaps we eat as a main dish along with all other side dishes and main dish. This is not the way to do business .
I really loved their dishes and customer service, great area close to my apartment. The employees are always welcoming. Highly recommended.
This place is amazing!!! We have been here twice in the past month and absolutely love the food, staff, and atmosphere.
