Housed in the historic former Notre Dame Church, Shire City Sanctuary is a Makerspace, Cyberoffice and majestic Eventspace in the heart of the Berkshires.
Pittsfield's beautiful and historic Notre Dame church, built in 1895 and located in the heart of the Berkshires, is now home to Shire City Sanctuary, a Makerspace, Cyberoffice, and majestic Event Space. In this breathtaking cathedral is a screenprinting shop, commercial kitchen, and gallery area. There is a presentation area, a shared CyberOffice, all on the lower level. Upstairs is the sanctuary with intricately painted details, from a gold leaf encrusted alcove to an immaculate rainbow of stained glass arching toward the 38ft ceiling. Add to that a choir loft, steeple with huge bronze bell and original pews that have been retrofitted to move, adding flexibility to the pristine and sacred space. Event space like this is unparalleled in New England.
Shire City Sanctuary’s Mission is to offer shared work and event space to the region nurturing creative collaboration, community, and economic development.
