Amazing home cooking! We came through because Shirley's was on the way to the airport and we couldn't stand another hotel breakfast. We ordered Eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. and then the fun came! Jody, our server came over with a pancake made fresh for us! This was Shirley's grandmother's pancake she had made back in the early 40's. Then came a taste of Shirley's vegetable soup with homemade noodles, chicken and dumplings, and a sampler of her famous breads! The staff felt like family, kindness exploding all around you. Shirley came to the table to introduce herself and thank us for stopping in. This stop was worth everything to my boyfriend and I.  This experience only helped to solidify the kind nature of the people in Michigan. The food was incredible and made us feel as if we were having breakfast in Shirley's home. Don't miss this restaurant and take home the Cranberry Walnut loaf!

In the past, this place was so good! Delicious, home cooked meals. It has, unfortunately gone downhill in the last year or so. Food just isn't quite as good. I got the cod which was just so so, dad got liver and onions-so so, chef salad... Literally had like a dime sized piece of turkey and ham. My husband ordered the taco salad, which he was happy with. Not many restaurants to choose from in that immediate area. Sad to say we probably won't return any time soon.

Some of the best breakfast in Northern Michigan.  Great homemade foods. I have been coming to Shirley's for years and continue to come back.  The restaurant can be very on weekend mornings, so I recommend going on weekdays.

We came back because the last time we were here the food and service was exceptional, now they have poor service and food. Order burritos and they were frozen in the middle, another meal sat under the heat lamp for 10 minutes before she brought it out. Had to ask for refills on drinks. Train your waitresses..... Most likely won't be back..

Giving it one star because we've had good meals here before.  Waited 30 minutes for sausage literally too burned to chew and a salad that sat under their warmers for 15 minutes. Then they gave us a bill for extra food we didn't order or receive. First time my farm raised hubby didn't finish his food. . Complained and their offer was to make food over to go. Don't have 
time for that.
