Visited here for dinner and I loved it. You can choose between two menus, depending on how much you would like to consume. The restaurant is located on the second floor and was not too busy when I visited. Kei was great, very attentive and friendly! The Wagyu appetizer and sushi were probably my favorite. I looked forward to dining here again. Dietary restrictions: Great place for pescatarians Wheelchair accessibility: Located on the second floor
What an AMAZING omakase experience - if you are in New York visiting or if have doubts, I recommend coming here. There was a parking garage around the corner and we were a couple minutes early but they sat us right away. It's located upstairs above another restaurant. From when you sit down to when you leave, everyone is so attentive and so nice. Great customer service. We opted for a limited edition bottle of sake which was actually sold out but the one they recommended to replace it was actually better. The two servers were very nice and our chef was amazing as well. Each course was absolutely delicious and my favorite was definitely the waygu topped with uni. I wish I wrote down everything I had but I would most definitely be coming back. Worth it!
Got the omakase counter experience - so good! $155 but great quality ingredients truffle, scallop, prawn, uni, wagyu and a good amount of wagyu here and there for omakase. They even gave us an extra roll for no reason. I've been to the upper west side branch and the service there was really great as well! The dessert was wonderful. Come hungry! Feels quite authentic and if you go at off peak hours, you might even have the space to yourself. Great dining experience and service - I was surprised to find out they were 2 staff short because they called in sick last minute! Mark of a well run establishment.
Honestly this was my favorite omakase I have ever been to, not only for the quality of the food but the charming service. Our chef and other hosts were so friendly that it quickly became my favorite dinning experience ever. Each dish was so creative and delicious. I am from SF/LA so my standard for fish quality are very high and this place really exceeded my standards.
We went to Shihou Omakase for an early dinner and we were not disappointed. Had the 15 course meal at the chefs table. High quality ingredients, great service, and Chefs were super engaged and knowledgeable about each dish. They explained each ingredient, the flavors, and gave us some background about the fish that are sourced from Japan.
I came here for my birthday the other day and I can’t express how much I enjoyed the experience at Omakase Shihou. It was a bit awkward at first because we were the only ones there for a while, but the Kei and the rest of the staff made us feel comfortable and joked around with us. All the appetizers and nigiri pieces were delicious and fresh. I can’t recommend this place enough!
BEST OMAKASE IN NYC. The quality here is as good as it gets. The service is incredible always. The chefs are extremely talented and accommodating. The fish they have is always fresh and different. They do have speciality fish some nights which you can try. The price is more than fair you truly get what you pay for here. The experience is always 10/10.
The sushi was great but the service was slow and the interior itself just didn’t seem to be one that would charge a min of ~$100 per head.Food: 5/5
I was super impressed with this omakase spot. Excellent counter-style service and just such an array of quality bites! The fish was all incredibly fresh, mixing in a few rarer varieties and just kept coming and coming, slowly building up to the crescendo of toro and wagyu. Also importantly, none of the courses was overdone, adding just the right amount of touches to each dish, to enhance the fish rather than overwhelm it. And finally, kudos to my chef who was very professional but really friendly and just really seemed to be enjoying his work. It really elevated the entire experience. I’ll be back here - and to try their more casual sushi restaurant downstairs.
I came here for Valentine’s Day, but the experience was disappointing. Despite having a reservation for 9pm, we waited 45 minutes to be seated because they weren’t ready. While some dishes were delicious, others lacked flavor, and the service was slow. Also, I don’t recommend sitting at the table. I didn’t have the best time because of how uncomfortably close we were to the other guests. At $175 per person, it wasn’t worth it due to these shortcomings.
