Shoyou Sushi/Sushi Bruce is the best sushi in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area. I am often very thankful they’re on the other side of the city or I would spend way too much money here. We’ve never had a bad piece or roll here and when you’re looking to really treat yourself I can’t recommend going for it with all the amazing a la carte sushi pieces strongly enough. The only issue they ever have is being busy almost always.
Went here for a quick lunch takeout. The service was great and our food was ready quickly. The sushi was good. Very fresh and there were a good amount of options. All and all it was some pretty affordable and good sushi.
Great and filling lunch! The rolls were huge, do share. Everything was basically a California roll, I'd recommend going for the more unique catches if available and the appetizers, recommend the octopus salad and Edamame with garlic sauce.
I came all the way from Virginia to get the best sushi in DC area. I do not regret that I made decision to drive for an 1 hour to get lunch here. I am very satisfied with their quality and service. All dishes are so big that are difficult to gulp down; which I love about! Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for very gooooood sushi!
Food 8/10 Service 10/10 Came in for a quick lunch with a buddy. It was a little busy, but the one server handled the room well while he was also playing host. Miso soup: Hot, flavorful, soothing. Perfect for a cold day. Toro nigiri: Delicious and full of flavor. I think there was a brush sesame oil that elevated it, but hands down tasty. But I was disappointed as it looked like it was cut with a full knife so it wasn't "pretty". If that's the worst part ... I'd still order it again. Spicy scallop: Bright, buttery, citrusy, well seasoned, and just the right pop of spice. Will order this again as I wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much. Baked Alaskan roll; A California roll, topped with salmon, baked, then topped with eel sauce. Flavors were great, but the rice from the roll got stuff to the foil the roll is baked on, which caused the roll to rip apart when you tried to eat it. Very difficult to truly enjoy the full bite when half is stuck to the serving tray.
Overall the food was good for American style sushi. We did enjoy the garlic edamame as our app and the sake was smooth. I have to say the unagi roll was the best and next time I will get some classic maki. Don’t think you will have the flavors of real Japanese sushi that is found in Tokyo but still a good meal overall and I will eat again.
One of the best sushi spots we have been to. We had the shumai, baked scallop California roll, and sweet honey roll. Perfection!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
We really love the sushi there I took my friends from out of town and they said it's the best sushi they have Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
Very large rolls! Be careful. All of them are amazing, I liked everything and I’ll come back when I’m back in that area of Baltimore.
Generally a decent experience. The sushi in our humble opinion was average. It came quickly! to quickly We had window seats and no room to handle all of the items at once. It's alright. Good people watching. It's a moderate value experience. At least it was for us. It always says something to me when my rolls start to come apart as ours did. That doesn't usually bode well for places we like to frequent. As it was our first experience with Shoyou we'll probably give them a second try before we make any final judgements of our own.
