Story

Siegel, Barnett & Schutz, L.L.P. is one of the oldest law firms in South Dakota. The firm was initially formed in 1918 by Hugh Agor and L. T. VanSlyke in Aberdeen, South Dakota. We are a general practice, full service law firm. Our attorneys have experience and expertise in a broad range of legal matters. We are committed to providing skilled high quality representation to all of our clients. Stan Siegel and Joe Barnett joined the firm in the 1950s and began building the firm to what it is today. These founding partners built a solid reputation as a preeminent trial lawyers while also providing general legal services of the highest quality.

Today we have an active criminal and civil trial and appellate practice in addition to taking an active role in health care law, agricultural law, business organization, non-profit formation and governance, and legal issues applying to the food processing and farming industries.
