The City of Sierra Vista has been constantly destructive to the businesses under their purview. They are debilitating to the local population and their practices with local business, and the community, are leading directly to the city's decay. If you intend to do business inside the Sierra Vista City limits, expect to pay high prices, and avoid interaction with them as much as possible. I have personally suffered great costs from attempting to do business with the city. Specifically, Irene Zuniga and the Engineering branch of the city have been deliberately oppositional to my business. As a new business, I wasn't fully aware of the rules of the city. I'm an engineer and I have always worked to stay in compliance with the laws. I asked the city what the requirements were and what I was permitted to do within their limits. The city, however, gave me advice contrary to what the law says. Based on their advice, I operated according to what I thought was acceptable. I even attended meetings with the city and was honest and open about how I was operating. In return, the city reported me to the Arizona Board of Registration for "operating without a license." I was working with a licensed contractor to review all Engineering and design activities that I completed. Irene Zuniga and other members of the city told me to my face that I was ok, even after asking for assurance. Then, I received a letter from the State Board stating that I was in violation of the rules. I was investigated and, even after fully cooperating with the Board's questions, I was fined $2450. That's the end of all of my operations as a business with the city, and as an engineer. Speaking with other members of the business community, I have heard time and time again about the City's exorbitant costs for everyone. If you don't have to do business with the City of Sierra Vista, stay the hell away. They're incompetent, dishonest, corrupt, and costly.
