The welcome center was unavailable to get our DNR permits pre-entry but the DNR people were easy to find once inside the gates. Great time of year - early October- to come as the place was practically empty. Tons of huge crests to try, stayed clear of the  standing water, views from the top were gorgeous. Tons of variety - ATVs, side by sides, Jeeps, trucks - all out there riding the dunes.

The Ranger at the check in station gave me a great guide for hiking.  I walked all the way to the water and back. Come with water!

This place is the BOMB and I mean that in the best possible way. When you're at the top of those dunes, you know there is a chance everything in life will be ok.

This was a huge hit for our kids. Lots of fun and great views. The lake is beautiful and there are nearby Jeep, buggy, and ATV rentals.

Fantastic, CRAZY weird experience. Who knew that there were eight story sand dunes in Michigan? Walking up and down them, watching kids play and tumble on them, and just standing in awe of the complete bizarreness of the view.
