I lived there in 2009- 2010 when I was stationed at the old Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I came home one day from work and my apartment had been robbed of all electronics and my Citadel ring. Several other apartments had been robbed while residents were at work. There was strong suspicion that it was an inside job from employees who monitored the residents coming and going. I don't know if they ever caught the thief/thieves. I never got a call back from Montgomery County police if any items were recovered. Doubt they were. All I wanted back was my Citadel ring. The thief/thieves have no idea how hard I worked for that band of gold only for it to be stolen out of my own apartment. Unbelievable.

Pros • Good location • Good views • Maintenance is good • Garage parking • Quiet, well-insulated apartments • Relatively safe, though I did have a bike locked up in the garage stolen • Fair prices for living downtown, although this is quickly changing because my rent went up 4% this year Cons • Building has central air that is shut off for 1-3 weeks, twice a year to “switch over” resulting in your apartment being either too hot or too cold • The AC is not strong enough to make your apartment cool in the summer, you’ll often have to go without a blanket on hot summer nights • Pool is small, located on a large, boring concrete patio, and only open 14 weeks a year • No washer/dryer in unit • Smaller units do not have dishwashers • Kitchens are tiny with very little counter space

I’ve been staying at Silver Spring Towers for over 5 years now and witnessed tremendous improvements due to management changes 3 years ago. To highlight some of the pros: • The Leasing Staff are extremely respectful and responsive • Recent renovations give the interior a more luxurious boutique style feel • The property manager Daye, and the Assistant property Manager, Laura are awesome. They have been extremely accommodating and courteous. • The maintenance staff is the best I’ve seen. They respond to service request in less than 24 hrs • There are many resident activities • Awesome Location (it’s in the heart of downtown Silver Spring Maryland). To further elaborate on this great location, its right across the street from a SafeWay Grocery Store and newly built all Glass front Silver Spring library. Furthermore its one block away from Ellsworth Place Mall (Formally known as Silver Spring Mall) which is under major renovations, an Ice skating Rink, Movie theater, and tons of restaurants • You really get a bang for your buck as prices are lower than neighboring communities and all utilities are included. Cons: • Apartments don’t contain washers and dryers. Each floor has a Coin Washer and dryer. • Downtown Silver Spring has a lot of construction going on. It can get a little noisy in the morning during the weekdays. All things considered, I would defiantly recommend staying here

In response to the review below, my experience working with Greg was great. He answered every e-mail I sent to him within a day and was very thorough in going through the ins and outs of the paperwork. It was a very smooth process.

Leasing Agent Greg is not very patient and polite. I am not moving in.
