Smith Funeral Home was established 1999, by Brian & Cheryl Smith.
E stablished in 1999, the Smith Funeral Home takes its roots from the early 1900's when N. L. Rogers began his undertaking business in Keyser, WV. From its humble beginnings on Armstrong Street, the business has changed ownership several times and has operated in two different locations until settling at its present location on South Main Street in 1948.
In 1981, Brian Smith moved to Keyser to attend Potomac State College and found the area very much to his liking. After beginning a career in funeral service, he attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1985. In 1986, he and the former Cheryl Thompson, whose parents were Keyser natives, were married and in 1990, purchased a 50 % interest in the former Rotruck Funeral Home. In 1998, Brian and Cheryl purchased the business entirely from the Rotruck family and have continued to operate it as a family owned funeral establishment.
In 2000, the Smiths decided to embark upon a another business venture. After 10 months of renovations and remodeling, the Smith Funeral Home~Burlington Chapel was opened in the former Old Homestead Hotel in Burlington, WV. It is their goal and hope to be able to provide the same level of compassionate, quality funeral service to the residents of that area.
