8-22-22 at 5:30pm- Food was great. 3-meat combo and 2 sides: Ribs, brisket and pork loin with pinto beans and potatoe salad. Added: mac n cheese, green beans and banana pudding. Sweet tea to drink. Young lady working behind the counter was awesome! Greeting everyone walking in and when leaving, having conversations with everyone and remembering names, helping carry tray out for customer, walked dining room to check on everyone asking how everything was and if needed any to-go stuff. She's part of reason I'd come back! She was doing most stuff herself and with a happy-go-lucky attitude, loved it! Black shirt, I assume was manager, not greeting as he was walking around, occasionally.
So we tried the barbecue at a different place outside our regular rotation that my other half wanted to try. We were disappointed. The brisket was bland at best. For me, I have had better from a Costco refrigerator meal. Same for the sausage. The pork ribs lacked favor. The ribs honestly reminded be of tamale meat, but less flavor. I tried to improve on the flavor with the barbecue sauce, but unfortunately it provided no help. The green beans were no better. The best thing out of the bunch for me was the boiled red potatoes. You could tell the potatoes were boiled in salt water and tender. The staff were kind, patient, helped navigate the menu options quite well, and though empty, was clean. When we entered, there was a bit of a rush, which the team handled quite well for a 8:15 PM visit. So.. if most barbecue is too spicy for you like Salt Lick, Terry Black’s, or Southside then this may be an option for you.
The men were very polite and courteous. I know my food could have been better! I had it before, when someone else bought it, more than once! My food didn't taste fresh this visit.Food: 3/5
Thursday around 6:30 and out of brisket. Ordered a sausage sandwich and waited 15 minutes. I was given a jalapeño sausage sandwich and I never said “jalapeño” when I ordered. I was told it would take another 15 minutes to get the regular sausage sandwich. Slow and staff was in-attentive. I can’t rate the food because I just asked for my money back and left.
The staff were nice but that’s all the positive I can say. Paid about $15 for the two meat sandwich plus side and drink. The brisket was dry and flavorless and the jalapeño sausage was dull and didn’t taste anything like jalapeño. The side of mac and cheese was small and tasted identical to kraft. The agave cream soda was pretty good at least.
Had food delivered tonight. It arrived hot and ohhhh so good. We got a couple brisket sandwiches, the rib plate and a chopped potato. Everything was very good and delivered quickly through their website.
Waited over 20 minutes for food. Brisket was cold. Unsweet tea was soured! Cashier not very friendly. Never had this quality at other locations! Very dissatisfied with our family meal...
New favorite is turkey and jalapeno on a bun. So good out should be illegal lol Brisket used to be my favorite, sliced not shaved. Staff is extremely friendly, polite, helpful. Hidden gem for great food, not fancy, at an OK priceFood: 5/5
We had a delicious meal from Smokey Mo's tonight. A loaded baked potato and Brisket plate. The order was ready in 7 minutes and the price was way more reasonable than a new BBQ place in the hood. Thank you!!
Love Smokey Mo's! For us, it is super convenient to our home and I am able to order for pick up on my way home from work. The ataff is always so friendly and the food is delicious! We have tried everything on the menu including the holiday meals. They have catered for our school functions, family parties, and last minute get-togethers. Their service is 2nd to none. They are always our first choice when we get hungry. You can get breakfast tacos, brisket, sausage, ribs, chicken, sides, and potatoes. They sell family packs and also have daily specials that help save on money, and help when my kids cant decide on what they want to eat. The only thing I wish is that they would bring back the French fries and okra.
