I wen to this branch yesterday looking for a few good reads for the rainy days ahead. I usually read non-fiction, bios, memoirs, etc., but yesterday was in the mood for sci-fi. After spending a few minutes looking for the sci-fi section, I asked a library staff member. There is none. By that, I don't mean they have no sci-fi books, but all fiction, be it sci-fi, mysteries, etc., are all lumped in together by authors name. It is impossible to go to one section and peruse all the books of one type. This is akin to going to the supermarket and finding the aisles stocked alphabetically. apples, dog food, then carrots, then hamburger, then watermelons. Oh, you want tomato soup? It's nowhere near the vegetable, it's on isle 6, bean soup? isle 2. Why should we put like foods together? It's all food! Why should we have the books grouped into interests? They're all fiction! So in this library, unlike every library i have ever used, you have to scan every book you wouldn't want, to find the one you do. well, that might be fine, if you're eighteen and have a few hours to kill. I'm 60, disabled, quite painful to walk to one section of books as I thought I'd find, much less limp up and down every isle in the fiction section trying to judge what kind of book I was looking at by the title. I can only think this was done to ease the workload of the staff, as it for sure doesn't make it easy for the library user. This is, quite frankly, the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my life.
