The Soap Factory is a laboratory for artistic experimentation, audience engagement and emerging cultural practice.
The Soap Factory is a laboratory for artistic experimentation, audience engagement and emerging cultural practice. A vital cultural anchor in the Twin Cities, The Soap Factory produces innovative programming across artistic disciplines and provides audiences with unique opportunities to explore contemporary art. Since its founding in 1989, we have commissioned and presented more than 300 exhibitions, performances and events; launched the careers of hundreds of emerging artists and produced nationally recognized programs. Located in a 48,000 square foot historic factory building, The Soap Factory is at the core of three fast-growing historic districts of Minneapolis: the Riverfront District, the Mill District and the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood. We play an important role in the vibrant arts ecology of the Twin Cities and in the community at large, acting as a cutting-edge catalyst for local and regional artistic activity.
