This restaurant is a great find in NYC. Delicious Japanese foods at fair prices. In fact, the prices are quite "normal", nowhere near what many other Japanese restaurants are charging and the food is well prepared, with generous portions. They charge the same price for Small - Medium - Large bowels of noodles. Wow! They also have perfectly Grilled Fish, and really, really delicious and healthy, Soba Noodles.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Got there early, so no wait for a table. Service was friendly and very efficient. The food was excellent and priced fairly. I would highly recommend especially if like noodles.Food: 5/5
Soba and udon for LIFE! Out of everything we got I say you can skip the appetizers and just go for the soba and udon! The apps were a little salty and over done but they’re good at their noods! The desesrt we got was yum but the “edible” / decorative flower was kinda sad. Service was great! Very attentive and kind servers!
I think I’ve unlocked one of my favorite noodle houses in Manhattan. Soba Noodle Azuma is the perfect cozy place to grab a bowl with friends, by yourself, whatever on a rainy day or a cold day, or even a hot day. They have a huge range of traditional noodle sets with hot broths, cold broths, udon, soba, rice, you name it. My friend and I got the spicy chicken curry udon and soba bowls with agedashi tofu and sweet potato fries. The tofu was so good, very classic, but they gave a lot of the broth/sauce which is my favorite part. The noodles themselves were great, the broth was thick and well flavored. The portions were massive with tons of fried chicken and noodles. We couldn’t finish it in one sitting! Will have to come here again and bring my friends here because for the price, quality, and quantity, this is an absolute gem!
authentic. delicious. great portion for the price. kind and attentive staff! totally recommend if you’re seeking a simple japanese meal in the city.Food: 5/5
Azuma Gozen was filling and delicious. I ordered cold noodles. It's the same price for small or regular, so I went with the regular size. At first I thought it was too much food, but it was the perfect amount. Every component was tasty. Dessert is included with the meal. There were some other flavors, but I decided to I end my dinner with a green tea mochi ice cream. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
My Japanese friend Kaori recommended it so I had to try it. This place did not disappoint! The decor is very authentic and the soba was delicious. They were soft and slightly chewy. I had their special menu item Cold Soba with Plum, Baby Sardine and Wasabi. The menu is a bit too long but it centers around the staples soba, udon, or rice. They have flavored highball drinks and even non-alcoholic beer for the health conscious. They have a bar for single seating. The staff is friendly and attentive. I'll be back to try the nabeyaki!
I frequently come here for their cold soba in dipping sauce. Its simplicity paired with a side such as eel is delightful/ refreshing. The rice underneath, while standard, doesn't quite fit this meal. The dumplings/ ramen are decent, but pale in comparison to their soba
I came here with my friend for dinner on a Saturday. They seated us pretty quickly and luckily we came early before it started to get very busy. The menus are in big pictures and everything looks so good! It comes in three menus for drinks, entree, and appetizers. Food: I went with the pork cutlet and large cold soba $21 and we shared the homemade fried gyoza $8. The combo was really good! I was looking for something that was going to be very filling. Typically cold soba is not heavy so the pork cutlet don really hits the spot. The homemade gyoza comes in 5 pieces and it was good, but it’s nothing mind blowing. Service: the waiter and waitress were on point! It was probably because it was not too crazy yet. But they were quick to refill our water and get our order. Overall: it’s still my number one place to go for cold soba!
Went twice. First time I got the Azuma Gozen which was pretty good and had a variety of food. Second time I went with a group, and got the okonomiyaki and eggplant w/ sweet miso. Okonomiyaki was good, but the eggplant was a bit flavorless. Maybe it’s a different style that I’m not used to. I also got the spicy thai hot pot w/ soba this time and the “hotpot” was more so just a different medium to dip the noodles in, which is also not as flavorful as the typical soba tsuyu. It also wasn’t spicy. If you want the hotpot, it might be better to get one of the hotpot specials alongside one of the typical soba dishes. I would come back to try the grilled fish or rice bowl sets as it is a relatively cheap and filling meal, but now I know which menu items to avoid.
