It is fun to try. Very unique style of food. I like the squid ink rice. I like the pata vegetable dish with mushrooms. The shrimp tastes good. Casual setting. I like they have flan and the milk infused bread desert. It tastes very unique: tenderFood: 4/5
This was my second time at this location. When I was here for the first time, I really had a memorable experience where the owner happened there and was very hospitable. That energy definitely is imparted through the restaurant's owners. I do think this is perfect for a group of 5 to 8 people who want in on generous servings of food with the star being the paella. The $79/pp set menu was perfect for a group of seven. The only reason why I have food at four stars is because I recently went on a trip to Barcelona and it's always going to be tough to top what they have in Spanish & Portuguese speaking countries. Get the paella, get the gambas, get the alcachofas - all will not disappoint!
This place has the best paella I’ve tasted in a long time. They even mix the pegado with the rest of the rice for you. It was pure perfection. They also have a dessert called Torrillas that is best described as a soaked French toast, but that doesn’t really describe it properly. It’s basically bread but it’s hot and soft and sweet on the inside and crispy on the outside with powdered sugar. I just don’t have the words to describe how good it is. You’ll have to try it for yourself. I love the atmosphere here and the staff were excellent.
Not really a fan of paella or flan, except at socarrat, where I love both. I had the socarrat paella, a couple of tasty tapas, awesome mojito cocktails, and the killer flan. Our server Sophie was a STAR and took care of us really well -: thank you! And the best wall paper in NYC is in the bathroomFood: 5/5
My friends and I came by Socarrat during Restaurant Week earlier this year. The restaurant was busy and our seat by the kitchen doors was quite cramped. What we got: - Croquetas del día chicken - Gambas al ajillo shrimp - Chorizo w/ fava bean pesto - Coles de bruselas Brussels sprouts - Socarrat Paella - Chuletas De Cordero Lamb Chops - Bacalao a la plancha Fish - Flan - Churros con chocolate Final Thoughts: The whole table had to participate in Restaurant Week and each main required at least 2 orders. I'm glad we got the set menu though as it allowed us to try a number of different dishes.
Update 11/4 - this is my 5th visit because I love their black paella, but so disappointed with the manager who over charged us, we ordered 2 paellas but charged us with 4. He said 1 plate is 2servings and accuse us of being drunk. It’s 7pm and we didn’t order drinks at all and if so I guess it’s ok to take advantage of us because we are drunk!? We had so much fun until the manager ruined it. At the end he gave us $30+back, suppose to be $60+ Old review: I had my birthday dinner here with few friends, and we loved everything, croquettes, octopus and especially the black paella.
One of my favorite tapas places in the city! Always good generally, especially the paella. But even better with happy hour. Half off nearly all the tapas and discounted sangria. The pan con tomate and jamon iberico were especially delicious! Also loved the croquetas. The food was so authentic and delicious. The experience and atmosphere itself is amazing too! It happened to be flamenco night when we were there and the music, singing, and dancing were so lively and fun. It was such a high energy place without being overwhelming. Will definitely come again for the happy hour and flamenco night, and will most definitely be bringing others here too!
First time trying their salmon carpaccio and it was super thing and fresh, the paella was loaded with seafood which I loved it! Everything was delicious and excellent service.Food: 5/5
My husband brought me to this restaurant and I loved it, especially their Paella which is really good. Just be prepared to wait a little longer as it takes time to cook the Paella.Food: 5/5
I went to the NoLita location at 284 Mulberry Street with a friend. It was outstanding in every way. The paella was delicious. The two tapas we had, fried sardines and shrimp were superb. The service was excellent. It was flamenco night to boot! We absolutely loved this place and will go again. I’d recommend making a reservation. I was glad I did because there weren’t any available tables.
