Soleluna in Washington DC is one of those hidden gems that I've had the pleasure of discovering. If you're in the mood for an unforgettable culinary experience, you absolutely must indulge in their mocha and cheese danish.  As I walked through the door, I was immediately transported to a place where time slows down, and every bite feels like a celebration of life. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee lured me in, and I couldn't resist pairing it with their danish.  The mocha infusion in the danish is nothing short of a revelation. It's a harmonious blend of rich, dark chocolate and the invigorating kick of freshly ground coffee beans. Each bite is an awakening of the senses, a journey through the world of flavor that would make any seasoned traveler proud.  And then there's the cheese filling. It's like a comforting embrace from an old friend, creamy and familiar yet so utterly satisfying. It balances the bold mocha flavors perfectly, creating a delightful dance of tastes and textures that's nothing short of poetry.  What truly sets Soleluna apart is not just their ingredients, but the passion and skill with which they're combined. It's evident that the bakers here take pride in their craft, and it shines through in every dish.  So, if you find yourself wandering the streets of Washington DC, make a beeline for Soleluna. Their coffee is strong to which I like and their latte was particularly good as they let you modify the syrup flavors you want on it. What I noticed is that the syrup is put on top and not mixed so for someone who may not like a strong coffee- you'll feel the strongness of the coffee midway through your drink but they also don't charge you for milk alternatives/preferences. Their pastries are really good especially the mango danish!  A very few chairs and tables for you to seat but nevertheless, their coffee is a must try.

Idk how this place ever gets less than 5 stars. It is small with only 3 tables outside and none inside, but it is my favorite coffee shop in DC! The prices are great $3.50 for a flavored latte! and the PASTRIES are incredible. So flaky, so tasty, like you’re in France. The folks that work there are also incredibly kind.Food: 5/5

This has been bookmarked for me for a while now, and it was delicious! It’s a small space with no seating inside, but some tables outside to enjoy your pastries and coffee.  At the register they have a list of their housemade syrups which include chai, salted caramel, vanilla and chocolate. I went with their iced vanilla bean latte with whole milk. I noticed a juicer on the counter behind the register and asked if they sell fresh squeezed juice which they do! I didn’t see it listed on the menu so that was a pleasant surprise. My fiancé got the orange juice which was delicious. I didn’t try their pastries, but most of them were sold out and we were there around 11am on a Sunday.  My latte was delicious and their vanilla syrup was significantly better than store bought syrups I’ve tried. Overall this was a great spot for a coffee fix and I’ll be sure to try their pastries next time!

Soleluna is soooo good. We've been here many times. We love their coffee, they nail the basics.  We plan our mornings around getting the guava pastries, though. They are to die for! Soleluna is probably our favorite coffee shop in DC.

Rounding out my bike ride, I stopped in for a quick coffee and pastry as a treat. Coffee was good whatever blah blah caffeine. I’m here to talk about that danish. That was better than having two legs. I almost went back for a half dozen but I didn’t want to spoil a good thing. Get a pastry. You’re welcomeFood: 5/5

Edit summer 2023: This place is still so good and their coffee is so consistent.  —————————  They bake all of their pastries fresh in-house! The flakiness of the puff pastry is just right and that is a rare thing in DC.  The coffee was also well done, better than the espresso of other places nearby in Adams Morgan.
