I love the trains and set up. There have been half a dozen times I was the only person who's card had been checked on the train. I've never ridden once without being checked. They check a lot anyway but that's not what this is. THEY PROFILE. Every time I ride its an insult. Extremely disheartening.

First time on Smart train and myself and my husband had a lovely experience. Travelled from Petaluma to San Rafael to meet friends for lunch. Train was on time, there are toilets on board and we could buy beer, wine or soda, plus the Smart train staff were super helpful and friendly. Excellent experience!!

At a cost of $1bn, which SMART estimates each household in Marin has contributed just over $1,000 to and climbing, this train transports a paltry 1,125 daily riders (2,250 daily trips) at a cost of almost $1m per rider. Voters were promised a train that was meant "to relieve traffic". What was delivered takes 0.1% of cars off roads, but is a catalyst accelerating development. SMART sold Railroad Square in Santa Rosa to developers who are building 268 units. Meanwhile Sonoma County has over 25,000 new housing units planned in Priority Development Areas around SMART stations. The result is over a hundred thousand new daily car trips - hardly traffic relief. If you read good reviews about this train consider that each regular rider is costing the taxpayer $1m - an absurd amount that could have been used on much more useful projects that achieved genuine traffic relief. As a diesel train with very low ridership (a few peak trains are full) the train emits far more CO2 than it will ever abate - as such it is accelerating climate change.

Love it! So convenient and you can have a drink after work and not worry about driving home (easy lyft from train station to home). Great for everyday commuting too. I wish they had a train between their 3:49pm and 5:19pm though. A 4:39pm train would be quite helpful to add for after work.

called for a parking ticket, no body was there to answer the phone 20 minutes. we should buy parking tickets there. parking with no ticket was $60.00 big rip off.
