I didn’t know what to expect from this restaurant due to reading previous reviews. First of all, our server was great, he was very attentive and courteous. We started with drinks, the Jade margarita was good but was lacking presentation but the pineapple mezcalito look amazing and tasted so good as well, so good that my husband had 3 of them. The sangria margarita had a good combined flavor of tequila and wine but again, I feel like it was lacking a cute presentation like the mezcalito. The chips and guacamole were really good, fresh guacamole! Our entrees were perfect size and amazing flavor. Shrimp chilaquiles? I took the risk and ordered them and they tasted so good! I would 100% recommend it. Bold flavor, lots of seaming and the pickled onions gave them a great touch. We also tried the arroz con pollo, so much chicken and very saucy, the sauce was delicious, very similar to the one used on the chilaquiles. We ended our dinner with the margarita mouse and it was the perfect light dessert. Tasted like a key lime pie mouse with crumbled graham crackers, perfection! They also recommended to get it to go because they serve you more, which it was a good tip but a small, good looking dessert was good. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Parking is convenient, you have to walk if there’s no parking in the streets but it is a nice walk. I would definitely recommend this place. Vegetarian options: They had a large variety of vegan options. Parking: Parking is about a block away, plenty of parking.
Claimed to serve the best margaritas in Utah, but unfortunately, the drink was quite basic—nothing special to set it apart. The ceviche was particularly disappointing; it was made with frozen shrimp and lacked seasoning altogether. The chimichanga, which I expected to be more authentic, was filled with pulled pork and barbecue sauce—definitely not Mexican cuisine. The burrito was equally underwhelming, with old rice and bland chicken. Even the sauces couldn’t save the dish, as they too were flavorless. While the presentation of the food looked nice, the execution left a lot to be desired. Overall, the meal was a big letdown. Great service and atmosphere.
Super impressed with Sonora Grill. Sat at the bar with Bailey as our server/bartender. Gave great recommendations with the Carnitas Nortenas and margaritas and always checking on us. Food was extremely flavorable and balanced with the fresh smokey red salsa and citrus salsa verde.Food: 5/5
Pretty good! We came here to say goodbye to a work colleague. The food was good and service was fast. A little different spin on Mexican cuisine than I would expect but I liked it.Food: 5/5
We really enjoyed our time here. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Definitely a twist on Mexican food but it was pleasant. The drinks were great, and the queso was prepared fresh by the table. We had to ask several times for chips and salsa, and the flan tasted burnt and oily not in a good way but literally everything else was fantastic.
Sonora Grill is always a good place to eat. It's like the fancy version of Mexican food. It's pricey, but it's tasty. I especially enjoy their chile verde. I am sad that the chips and salsa are no longer free, though.Food: 4/5
First place we ate on our vacation and it was good. Pretty standard food, the menu appeared pretty fancy but in reality it was nothing special. There is no free chips and salsa, we did order some and the salsa were more like a smoky tomato reduction. Not necessarily a bad thing - it just wasn’t traditional salsa and we also ordered the carne asada plate big enough to share! and it was good, but just not super ~anything~. They do have a very clearly marked gf and vegan/vegetarian menu! Vegetarian options: Very clearly marked : Dietary restrictions: Menu is clearly marked and staff was well informed about ingredients Parking: Free street parking if you can find it! Kid-friendliness: I don’t see any reason why this place wouldn’t be kid friendly, it’s nice and spacious and has good seating and a good kids menu Wheelchair accessibility: It is flat and has a good open wide hallway and tables easy to park at
I previously left this place a good review but my second visit warranted a revision. My wife and I came here for dinner and I ordered a shrimp cocktail for us to share as an appetizer and not only were the portions ridiculous for the price 5 regular sized shrimp not large or jumbo for approx 12 dollars if I remember correctly but as soon as the waiter set it on the table my wife and I both got a burst of fishy smell off the shrimp they brought us. Then, to add insult to injury injury if we had eaten this salmonella riddled appetizer the waiter takes the "dish" back to the cook and from 30 feet away we can hear these guys saying "it smells like shrimp to me". If you are cooking food for other human beings and you don't know that when seafood smells fishy it is not good to serve, you need to find a new profession before you kill someone with you lackadaisical approach to preparing others food. Needless to say we got up and left after hearing that.
The food was amazing. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. I had the lunch combination plate which was absolutely incredible. The beef taquito was a huge surprise to me of how much I loved it. The sauces were unique and delicious. I could go on and on about how much I loved this place! The prices were very reasonable especially on their lunch menu. The service was quick and very friendly. I would highly recommend stopping by!
At the center of Ogden, this is a nice place for a meal. Plenty of space to have some chips and salsa and grab some tasty food. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious as we ordered the Chile Verde which had a yummy pork. I ordered the Carne Asada and it was good. My wife’s only complaint was the portion for the price left you wanting a little bit more. Maybe that’s not a bad thing. We were both full after the two appetizers and the large plates we had. We had to travel an hour to get to the grill, and it was worth it.
