A very nice area to walk and exercise. Lots of people use the trials and it is very flat. A good place for dog walking (on leash).

There isn't a great deal here, however it is a beautiful spot to walk, run, ride your bike, or just relax and enjoy nature. Dogs are allowed. (On leash.) Motorized vehicles are not. Some people come here to fish. Some fly model airplanes. Most people just come to enjoy the natural beauty. Bring your camera! :)

Beautiful lake with some very nice attractions. Playground for the kids, small waterfall, and a walking trail.

A nice walk in the woods along the Carlls River. The canopy of the woods is so dense you almost never see direct sunlight on the whole trip, if you stick to the hiking trail and stay off the widder bridle path that is. Even on the bridle path it's still completely shaded, but on the hiking paths it's a small hidden green wonderland of lush swamp that lets you know what the south shore must have looked like before the post war developments. The trails go all the way from Argyll Lake to Belmont Lake State Park. Five and a half miles round trip.

Southard's pond is one of the best bits of nature in the area and the trails go for several miles north toward Belmont, so you can stay in the wooded setting for as long as you need. There is a little garbage around, and names are sometimes scrawled on trees with spray paint or knives, but on LI we can't really have nice things. Still one of the best parks around.
