The Southern California Medical Museum was established in 1982 by Merlin A. Hendrickson, MD to provide education on the history of medicine.
The Southern California Medical Museum is the only public Medical Museum in Southern California. Established in 1982, it shows the history of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy from the 15th century until the present. Highlights are a diorama with an old-time doctor's and dentist's office, quackery items, patent medicine, colorful pharmacy vessels and Civil war and other war medicine exhibits. There are always changing temporary exhibits. The museum is non-profit and is completely staffed by volunteers. New members and donations are always welcome. Tours for groups, loans to suitable organizations and a speakers bureau are available. The museum is accessible to disabled persons. The entry fee is $5. Special pricing for tour groups.
