Can't speak for the steak house. C-Store is above average, cafe is one of those hidden gems. Diverse menu, daily specials. Clean place, nice folks working. Clean restrooms. Can't ask for much more.

Won't eat here again! I come through here periodically but stop at the BP up the highway. Decided to try out lunch at this place the other day. Tried the brisket sandwich and fries. I'll be honest,...I was really impressed!! Larger portion of fries then they use to give, and that brisket sandwich was actually really good. Wasn't dry. Wasn't too skimpy on the meat either. It was good and filling. So I decided I'd stop here today and get the same thing. I delivered down in Missouri and held off eating until I got to this place. Was real hungry and really looking forward to a repeat. Got the same deal of fries. Comes with a little thing of BBQ sauce for you to add. The brisket was alright. But that hockey puck of a bun they put it on was unbelievably stale! I mean, not a little old and chewy...I mean Rock solid all the way though! Fold it and it snapped like a crouton. I was looking for mold but realized it was too dry for mold to grow. There was no way in hell the cook didn't know that thing was that bad. I wouldn't feed it to my babies, family, friends and certainly not paying customers! The lady wasn't friendly like the day before. It was the same guy who made it. So I don't know what was up. I ate the sauced meat with my fingers like a caveman because they didn't include the neatly wrapped plastic ware in the napkin like the day before. I was very dissatisfied with this. Was I lucky the first time? Is it a hit and miss thing? I'm not wasting another nine bucks to find out. Word of mouth travels with truck drivers. I'm not recommending this place to anyone. Plus no diesel for a while now. Haven't got breakfast here in years for a reason.... It's terrible! From now on I'm going to park and walk my happy ass up the street to Hardee's. At least it's consistent.

Steak house is closed permanently. Gas station goodies are high price. At least it's a place to park for my 10-hour break and it's less than a mile and a half from my delivery. That's good I guess. Other than that there is absolutely nothing to recommend this place. PS, the deli food is crap. I purchased two breakfast burritos and they were slimy and for some reason had some kind of mysterious red sauce in there. Absolutely nasty. Absolutely a waste of money once again. Maybe the other food is okay, I don't know, because after the burrito experience there was no chance in hell I was going back to give them more of my money. Nor will I ever again.

Do you even steakhouse, bro? Not impressed at all. Steakhouse staff is completely unorganized. I chose to sit at the bar, as it was fairly busy inside. I ordered and when I came back from the salad bar, which was a pain to reach any of the rear items (and poorly stocked), a server was literally standing where my seat is, waiting for a drink order, totally unaware of both the glass & silverware sitting in front of her and me beside her, waiting for her to move out of the way. Then, throughout the wait for my meal, I observed nothing but complete chaos between the old man tending bar, the girl that was back there as well (that can't even pour wine correctly), and every other staff member coming up to get drink orders. (Tip: Figure out a spot for your servers to walk up to, preferably not right next to someone who's eating, and make them all get in line!) Just absolutely killed the vibe of being in nice, quiet IA steakhouse. Add in the music from the kitchen boombox, and this place is just UNORGANIZED and UNPROFESSIONAL. After a normal wait, my entree came. I can't believe I paid $24.50 for a coke, an undercooked 14oz Ribeye of mediocre quality, and a small, overcooked baked potato. I was still hungry after eating, so I went to the store next door and grabbed a small pizza to finish off the meal, at which point I had to listen to the clerks whine about meaningless crap that customers shouldn't have to hear. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT GOOD SERVICE IS ANYMORE? By far one of the biggest let-downs I have ever experienced in small town USA. No wonder everyone refers to IOWA as Idiots Out Walking Around. I think I found their breeding ground.

It would be great if I could actually wash my hands with soap, if there was any, after using the restroom.
