This was my first visit at Southern Styles sometime in March on a Friday and I normally don't get my hair trimmed all that often just because I do not trust anyone with my hair. I decided to give this place a shot because usually the local ones are really great and the reviews were wonderful. I was greeted a minute after I walked in and just said I needed a long layered trim, they said okay and Lisa was the one that was going to be the one doing my hair. She proceeded to walk, I was unsure if I should follow her or not, but then she finally said right this way. I immediately saw that most of ladies focus was on this one girl who turned out to be the niece for one of them. I guess it was prom that Friday, so Lisa finally took me to get my hair shampooed and conditioned, after she showed me where to sit, she put the apron around my neck, I noticed there was a lot of cut hair all over the apron and right then I should have said something, not only was the apron covered in other customer's hair, her area was dirty, more hair all over her work area. I did not see sanitizing chemicals to clean her equipment. She kept stopping what she was doing to me to go look at this niece's hair, which was 3 or 4 times. I don't know about anyone else but to me she is losing focus on her customer's hair. When you have a guest in front of you, you give them all your attention. So, close to my hair being done they aloud the niece to take off her shoe in front of customer's to show everyone her feet... That is NOT professional on any level and very disgusting how they just encouraged her to take her shoe off to show her toes. Also it seemed like everyone that worked there was talking about other employees that were not there... That is also NOT professional, I don't want to hear about your problems with other employees. I am sure everyone has their own problems, as do I, but I do not want to hear about their problems as a guest. Lisa was very nice but her and some of the ladies need some work on being professional. I don't believe I will give this place another chance just because there were so many issues that happened on my first visit. Hope this helps the owners and new guests.

Just had my hair cut and colored, and I absolutely love it!  Even after leaving a good tip, I still had money left over to go buy some new makeup!  Love this place!

I let my 17 year old daughter Haley Bryan try to go get her hair cut for the first time by herself today and I am so sorry I did!!! Whoever did her hair did not wash, blow dry or anything they trimmed 1 inch off & charged her $18. I go in and get a wash, cut & straighten from Lisa Miller for the same price. My daughter has never gone by herself & I told her ya'll would be nice & help her to just tell you what she needed. Whom ever did this to my daughter - SHAME ON YOU!!!!!. You took advantage of a teenager trying to do something on her own without her mother for the first time going with her.

Sara gets a 5 but others there have been unprofessional a few times....i agree with Lisa, they talk about the other employees  ( I gave one of them a chance to cut my son's hair when Sara was out) big mistake! They also talked about a customer and her disabled son! But if I call to find out if Sara is there, with aggravation they will say yes and once not tell me she was too booked with cuts and colors with an hour or so before closing and today , they failed to tell me she had already gotten off work....both times I drove from pelham to there..... if it wasn't for the very good job Sara does with my hair and my son's, I would not go back! Sara listens to what we want. And is honest about how or if it wouldn't work with what we already have....the one who cut my son's hair did not listen and did what she wanted to........so I do not bother going if Sara is not there!
