It's a great school for transferring to USC upstate bachelors program. Cost is much more affordable, although getting an education is expensive regardless. All of my teachers have been great so far.., The financial aid office is usually very pleasant regardless of being hounded at the beginning of every semester. If you're looking for a certificate program they offer a plenty, and if you're looking to get an associates degree they offer that as well... if you were like me, wanting to pursue a bachelors degree program, this is a great place to get started (and I highly recommend taking as many classes as possible before you transfer to a university because they charge so many additional fees and they add up tremendously). Scc has been a money saver!!!

I'm currently enrolled in my second semester here at SCC and I really enjoy it. My professors are great and I've never had a problem with getting any questions answered or issues resolved. Tuition is affordable compared to some other universities in the area. I personally think any college/university people attend is going to have its pros and cons so as long as you're open-minded and dedicated to get a degree, I think you'd enjoy attending SCC.

The financial aid staff are THE most incompetent employees I've ever seen. People at Wal-Mart have better work ethic than they do. I've had to sign, re-sign, and call probably 50 times in the last 2 months to just send in paperwork. Each time you send something in, they won't tell you somethings wrong with it till a week or 2 later, so they just waste your time. And when you call financial aid it's going to a call center, so they don't even k ow what's going on, and only tell you it'll take up to 2 weeks for papers to process. If you aren't paying out of pocket, d ont even waste your time, just call or email the financial aid counselors and have them help you. I don't know where tuition goes to, but it certainly isn't towards better financial aid staff who laugh at people who ask for help.

This is a community college so I didn't expect too much when I moved here from out of state. But the fact that I was completely unable to get in touch with a guidance counselor to schedule my classes BEFORE moving here was frustrating and absolutely a problem in their system which needs addressed. To clarify, I was only unable to complete registration because students who are in person are "first priority". It should not be so difficult for out-of-state students to get registered. The entire campus shuts down at 1:30 on Fridays. For someone who needs a quiet place to study with resources at hand, that's frustrating; never mind it just being an absurd thing to do unless it's a holiday weekend. Finally, it seems that the entire school (every campus) has a no-electronic device policy which is even more absurd in our day. I really appreciated the use of my iPad for taking notes during class or quickly googling definitions during a lecture. I pay to come here and be taught. We're not in public high school anymore. If I want to use my devices because it's what I like best, I will use my devices. Further, if I want to waste my money by using my phone to text (without disturbing others) during a class which I payed for, I have that right. Get real people. Treat your students like children and they will be children; breeding irresponsibility.
