Just like being in San Francisco's Financial District, including waiting in line to order, this Specialty's San Mateo location is always busy! There is a Self-Order Kiosks to order as soon as you walk in if you don't want to wait in line to order. Famous for their baked from scratch cookies and the breads they use to for their sandwiches, Specialty's is known for their business catering. A little pricey, especially their cookies, but it's worth the price for their use of high quality ingredients. They serve Peet's Coffee Tip: Specialty's will ask if you want your savory breakfast croissants or cookies warmed up, be sure to do it. Makes things taste even more delicious and gooier. Service is slow and the dine in area can use a Specialty's worker to wipe down and pick up from the tables more frequently. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. Diaper changing table inside the disabled stall in the women's restroom.

Good fresh food and always plenty of seating. I love this place! The roasted veggies quiche and vegan salad are yummy!!

The sandwiches here are hit or miss I find: some well thought out and delicious, and some a disaster to try and eat with sub par ingredients. I didn't like the breakfast sandwiches at all. It's a bit pricey for what you're getting, especially the $3 cookies, but if you find the right sandwich or salad you will definitely have a tasty lunch. I end up here often with coworkers who seem to enjoy it. I highly recommend the turkey apple brie sandwich and the berry goat cheese salad. Those are my go to items and both are very good.

Turkey and cranberry sandwich was awesome! Great cookies and treats too. The latte was perfection.

Good place to get a casual bite to eat - and nice to be able to order ahead and use the in cafe tablet menus when there's a line. Ample seating, and a lot of charging spots, but wifi is pretty slow, and can be a bit loud (as most coffee shops/cafes are) or a meeting/phone call.
