Skip did an awesome job with our island top.  He made an island top out of black walnut that is the centerpiece of our kitchen (and it was done in a timely manner)!  He took what looked like a rough piece of wood and made it a piece of furniture that would fit into the highest end of kitchens.  We have told all of our friends about Skip and his craftsmanship.  We'll certainly be back when we need more quality furniture.  Thanks Skip!

We commissioned a black walnut dining room table with a cherry base. Not only did it turn out even more beautiful than we'd envisioned, but Skip got the project turned around very quickly in time for Thanksgiving. Everyone at Spiritcraft was a pleasure to work with and bent over backwards to be helpful. I loved going through all the wood at the shop to pick out the pieces for our tabletop. We got a high quality piece for a reasonable price and highly recommend checking this place out.

I  live I  Texas so it's wasn't possible to have them reupholster a couple things I wanted done but I loved one of the fabrics they had for display on their website. I contacted someone over the weekend to ask if I could purchase some of their fabric, who seemed completely occupied while talking to me and asked me to text him with my name and fabric. I did to no avail.  I called a couple days later and he responded that I  never text him and that he would text me.  He did in which I replied with what he asked for. This was July 18th.  Today is August 1st.  I have text him a couple times to remind him, because people get busy.  Nothing. Poor customer service. How easily he could have charged me double or triple for the price of the fabric and made easy money, no actual labor done.

Skip & Co. fabricated a vanity top out of sapele for a client of mine in the NW suburbs a few months ago. First of all, I had never even heard of the wood before, never would've ever thought of it as a possibility for the top, but it was a beautiful, deep, walnut-like hardwood that took a beautiful finish, and has proven to be both beautiful and functional. Skip also took the time to show me, in person at his shop, how to maintain the top and keep it looking good. Overall, an incredibly positive experience. And the price, considering the top-notch craftsmanship and level of service, was really more than reasonable. I am an architect and am very particular about my client's needs. Spiritcraft Furniture exceeded all of them.

This review is long overdue.

Last year (2015), we found Skip and Spiritcraft Furniture online and began a lengthy email chain based on our needs for a large slab (walnut) table. I had communicated with a few local makers as well as a Canadian firm. The cost of the other companies were at least twice that of Spiritcraft. We were getting close to Thanksgiving and my wife and I were hosting for the 1st time. To add to the degree of difficulty, we had a welder close by who was going to fabricate the legs.....so now you all know the facts. 

Skip never missed a beat. He was responsive to every question and never flinched, even when I asked him to communicate with the welder on details. Our slab came 2 days before Thanksgiving. I had secretly told myself we wouldn't get it in time as I had lagged on needed information a few times. The shipping crate and interior protection were perfect, with nothing even close to a scratch evident. The table and legs were married on site in less than 45 minutes, thanks to Skip telling us beforehand what we needed as far as fasteners/bolts and washers.

Thanksgiving was a blast and the table blew my father in-law away... (which was worth every penny in the big picture as he is an accomplished wood worker). I should have told him I made it.

I have always been a little skeptical ordering things online when shipping and custom fabrication are in the equation. This was by far the most professional transaction I have ever been been involved with. Every time we have a dinner or BBQ, people ask who made the table and we say "Some guy in Illinois named Skip...The guy is the best".
