My last visit was my second time dealing with the Sportsman's Lodge. The first time we rented canoes, paddles etc with drop off and pickup after the trip, including parking of our cars. We had excellent service. My second time involved staying overnight at the lodge, which again was a very satisfying experience. Our room and bathroom were clean and in good order. I loved the rustic feel of the place. The food was fresh, well cooked and enjoyable. The rate of $ 110.00 for one night is very reasonable considering it includes dinner and a solid breakfast, including fruit and juices. George and his staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I do hope to be back to the lodge soon.

We stayed here a night before starting our canoe trip, and were very pleased with the place. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely view of the lake. The dinner and breakfast were tasty, hot, nicely served, and certainly ample. We enjoyed chatting with other canoe trippers on the deck in the evening. George is obviously knowledgeable about the lakes and routes in the area. When we came to settle our account, we were delighted to learn that the charge also covered our parking and launch fee for the trip. When we consider that we just paid $120 + tax for a most ordinary room and bed in Waterloo, we felt this was really good value. We loved the area, and plan to return next summer. Because we were so pleased with the Lodge, the others who trip with us will join us in overnighting there too. Looking forward to my next visit.

I am a repeat customer of the lodge for 8 or so years. On average I go twice a year and the hospitality has been great. showers are always hot and meals are always on time. I however have been late on several accounts and George( owner) or staff has set my meal aside for me once I arrive back The lodge offers ATV rides a place to wash the bikes. You don't see this any where else. In the main lodge you have a common room for all to gather and chat about the days events. In early spring and late fall there is a wood stove which is really nice to have...help dry the damp cloths. They pack you a lunch if your going out on a day trip ( extra cost but well worth it) George has helped me repair equipment or lent me tools so I could repair it.... this is something you never receive at a hotel I have recommend the sportsman lodge to several people who are now also repeat customers. I will continue to use the lodge as long as they will put up with me Thanks Sportsman lodge

Stayed for 1 night with a group of 6 guys while on an ATV trip. Arrived later than we expected to but were welcomed with a smile. Dinner was simple and very good.same with breakfast. George was very helpful with directions to go around the top of Lake Wahnapitei and how to avoid the swamp we got stuck in the day before. Great setting and loved just sitting around the woodstove with the guys and the morning sunrise over the lake.

This is the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. I travel professionally, first as a flight attendant on a corporate jet, and now with one of Canada's largest carriers. The first thing I do when I arrive in a room is to check for bed bugs. Upon checking, I found that our sheets were not clean, there were both pine needles and sand in our bed. When going for dinner, not only did they serve us an absolutely sub par meal of mystery meat with powdered gravy, powdered mashed potatoes, and severely over cooked frozen vegetables, but they also charged us 25$ per person for it. Honestly- if you don't take this review seriously- at least bring a stash of your own food. The next morning, upon waking in our dirty bed, in a dirty room, we decided it was better to go to the cottage our friends had rented as our shower was also dirty- awesome. Thankfully, we didn't spend very much time at the lodge, so we were lucky. Upon checkout, at 11am (normal checkout time anywhere else in the world at any other hotel) we were told we would have to pay an extra evening as we had stayed past check out- which was apparently 10am. All in all, avoid this place, if you can. They are running a business that could be a total success into the ground with unclean lodging, terrible food, and the worst service I've ever had- in any part of the world.
