The Springfield Art Association is a gem of Springfield and the pride of Enos Park Neighborhood. As a resident and community developer, I am eager to share the friendly and collaborative nature of all of their staff. It is a pleasure to work with them on community programming, attend classes and volunteer. My children have participated in art camp, both in teaching and attending. I strongly encourage those of all ages to join the fun and create some space in your life for art.

Attended a Sangamon County Historical Society joint meeting with the Arts Council at Edwards Place about a portrait of John W. Bunn by Cecelia Beau, a famous portrait artist.

This place is a fun combination of local artists, and local history. One side was the Springfield Art Association, and they had a gallery setup with pictures and sculptures from local artists. Walk through the next door and you are in the historic Edwards family home. They actually have the courting couch that Mary and Abe sat on together. There are certain pieces that have been completely restored, others from the time period, some the actually belong to members of the Edwards family, and then you have the fun game of the wallpaper. Pieces of the original that are still there, right next to the accurately recreated brand new wallpaper. It's fun and shows just how much time they have taken to restore this home.
