Saint Paul Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the center of spiritual life for some three thousand parishioners and more than 750,000 Catholics in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Story

St. Paul Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. As the Cathedral, it is Bishop David M. Zubik‘s Church. It is everybody’s parish. It is the site of the local Church’s major events, from priestly ordinations to wedding-anniversary celebrations.

Mission

The Catholic Community of Saint Paul Cathedral Parish, empowered by the Holy Spirit and nourished by the Eucharist, proclaims, witnesses and shares the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Mother Church of the Diocese of Pittsburgh is uniquely situated in the midst of academic, medical and cultural centers. We invite all to join us as we live our faith and reach out in charity to those in need. As we move into our future, we affirm our baptismal call to holiness by deepening our faith and loving one another, all for the honor and glory of God.

When I first arrived in Pittsburgh, I used to come here to attend mass. It's a splendid church architecture-wise and its community is majority composed by college students and residents living in Oakland. The service is also beautiful. Street parking is available in the area, specially in Craig Street. Service is always busy during prime time such as Sunday night.

Stunning church. Walking in here you’ll have sensory overload. From the cathedral organ, incense, and beautiful architecture, your jaw will drop.

I was part of the facelift done inside the building. If you have never been inside you should go look at the work done on the church. It is absolutely stunning inside. Worth looking at.

The priest was very nice, he blessed my rosary after mass and gave a very passionate homily that kept me listening even though I was very sleepy. The cathedral is beautiful, interior is white with ornate flowery patterns and I noticed there were little birds carved into the walls to which I like.
