This park is decided into several different space for the community to enjoy. The largest space is an open field which is used for kids soccer, baseball, field sports and other activities. Your not supposed to bring your dog on this Astro turf lawn…so please don’t. There is also a small child’s playground which is wonderful and popular. On the west end of the park on the other side of the tunnel entrance there is a series of handball and now pickle ball courts. There is also a basketball court. The secret park which has limited hours is all the way to the east on first Avenue. This grass lawn and flowerbeds is an oasis.
Big park! I have been visiting and hanging out at this park for a couple of summer weeks in 2022, and I have to say that the environment has been interesting. However, my only two flaws are the water fountain and restrooms. Why or why not have two water fountains on the entire park instead of just one? Second, I thought the restroom could be in serious and necessary reconstruction. When I wanted to go use the men's restroom, I would not feel comfortable of going in there due the beastly condition.
Awesome park for kids: plenty of space and good climbing frames, swing sets, and slides. There are also plenty of benches for parents, a large open area for ball games or scooting. Not to mention the impressive view of the Empire State Building.
Very nice and clean park. It is perfect for kids to play and adults to just sit and relax. Some eev order to be delivered there. Overall it’s a fun place for the whole family.
A great place for kids, synthetic grass, but pretty neat, with trees all around, and a fence that is always closed to protect the little ones.
Cool park. Was visiting family and took the kids out for a break on a nice afternoon. No bathroom but the equipment was in good shape, nice families, felt safe.
The only missing thing is a sand box, otherwise it's has a nice playground in a nice neighborhood.
I am really nitpicking by not giving this park five stars. I go here often. I throw a football or a frisbee with a friend or one of my parents here every now and then. The turf is not really grass and used to be cement. I have mixed feelings about this, as I grew up with it being cement and I would scooter on it. I know people who miss it because they cannot really rollerblade and/or rollerskate there anymore on the open field. The turf is still really nice though! The playground is nice and has a rather large jungle-gym, which I can attest to from previous experiences when I played on it when I was younger. There are also sprinklers that turn on in the summer and can cool you off. There are also swings, tire swings and this other contraption that you sit and spin around in. The basketball courts are pretty good, but get crowded often. Also, the floor on the court is the slightest uneven, but no biggie. You can also practice your tennis skills on the adjacent court area where there are walls to hit the tennis ball at. The bathrooms are not ideal, but they get the job done. They usually get locked around sundown. This park is not perfect or essentially perfect, but I love it a lot and I think 4/5 is a good representation of this park. Get out and enjoy! P.S: They have a composting station by the playground area that is open on Saturdays.
Pleasant and clean patch of green in midtown East with old style benches, playgrounds, and handball court.
Nice park by the highway, good for locals, bit hard to get to by subways.
