I have had wonderful experiences with the Starkville Police Department. Very informative when I call and very polite. I can regarding some stolen property, I had 2 officers here within 10 minutes, they were as nice as could be and followed up with me that evening when they recovered it. I am grateful for great officers and the response time of the SPD.

I called early Sunday morning (Aug. 23rd) around 1:00 AM to request someone to turn off the fire alarm at Haven 12 apartments. A lady answered and I explained the situation to her and all she said was "ok....". When I didn't respond because I was waiting for her to say something else, she said "I SAID OK SIR!" I eventually had to ask the lady if she was actually going to send someone out to turn the alarm off and she rudely said "OF COURSE I AM!"... Once I said "thank you.", she hung up on me. When someone calls the police, they should be treated with respect and concern for the situation. I should've been told exactly what the dispatcher was going to do. For example, she should've told me she was going to send someone to turn the alarm off, she should've asked me if there was an actual fire, she should've asked me what building it was in, etc.. Once I said "thank you" she hung up on me. This lady should be fired not only for being extremely rude, but also for hanging up on me instead of asking if there is anything else I needed, or asking if I was in any real danger. Get it together up there! If I need to do her job for her, I will. It's not hard to be kind to people and assess their situation correctly. Either learn how to treat people, or stop working in a place where you have to talk to people everyday. This woman is definitely not cut out for any type of customer service.

Yes the woman that answers the phone is very rude and definately needs to be fired. And the cops do whatever they want.

today my son in Italy called me to ask me to call this police department because his girlfriend texted him from under a table at the university where there was an active shooter lockdown. The very uninformed person who answered the phone proceeded to give me the number to campus police. So....nice way to really take care of the situation...the campus police line was busy. I want my sons girlfriend out of your very unsafe and obviously very gun ridden community. It is not safe anywhere in the south anymore.
