The Stauffer team did a wonderful job of helping us to plan and lay my father to rest. During a difficult time, when things can feel like a whirlwind, the staff ensured that our wishes were carried out, and every detail was taken care of.

I recently attended a funeral in My.Airy. I am writing in regards of the funeral homes attention to the needs of the family. Kelly was professional and helpful to everyone.

I really really REALLY wish I could give less than one star.  My father passed away on May 30, 2019. My family spent majority of our lives living in Mount Airy, so we decided to go with Stauffer for my father's services.  When we originally called, their immediate response was "our condolences, our first availability for a funeral is Monday." We hadn't met with them at all, and they were already trying to book the funeral. Then we were told we had to have the entire payment for the viewing and funeral services upfront before the funeral. Apparently certain people aren't getting paid for their involvement with the funeral services, so we understood that.  But they also said until we had the entire payment for the funeral, they couldn't pick up my father from the hospital. My grandmother offered them a significant amount of money just to go get my father from the hospital, and they immediately said "not until the payment is made."  The next time we spoke to them, they had said they had called the hospital and arranged for my father to be picked up Monday at 11:30am. Shortly after that phone call, the hospital called us to ask if we knew what funeral home would be picking him up because no one has called them to arrange pick-up yet.  We decided to take our business elsewhere. If you're looking for a fantastic funeral home, may I suggest Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 W. Old Liberty Rd., Winfield, Maryland 21784.  We called them, and before we even hung up the phone, they had already sent someone to pick my father up. We met with them today, and the talk about money was very minimal. They also said we had 30 days to pay, instead of having to pay for everything upfront. They comforted us with updates on my father and kind words. I feel incredibly secure and relieved with my father and his services in their hands.  They will make you feel comfort in your time of loss. Stauffer will ignore your grief and make you feel like you're only being tolerated because you're going to pay them.  We learned that if my father was in the hospital any longer, he would have been sent down to Baltimore as an "unclaimed body". Stauffer let my father sit in the hospital for three days because we didn't pay them yet. They lied to us, they were rude to us, and they clearly are in the wrong field if they're incapable of feeling sympathy.

Upon reading the 2 previously posted reviews I was hesitant but after meeting with Jeff and Leah I had no doubt that Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy would handle my Mom's service with the utmost respect and dignity. During the pre-arrangement meeting, money was never discussed. Please don't let the previous posts impact your decision. I'm very glad I didn't.

Do not use their services unless you want the days after your loved ones death to be full of stress and extra turmoil.
