Story

The Staunton Police Department is an internationally accredited, full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to serving the citizens of the City of Staunton, Virginia. The Department consists of fifty sworn officers and seventeen full-time civilian employees. In addition to providing twenty-four hour patrol coverage and criminal investigative functions, the Department is very active in community policing.

The opinion expressed by “fans” and visitors on the Staunton Police Department Facebook page do not reflect the opinions of the Staunton Police Department. Public comments are monitored by the Staunton Police Department, which reserves the right to remove/delete public comments that, are a violation of law, constitute slander, constitute fighting words, advocate imminent lawless action, create a clear and present danger, are obscene, are pornographic, and/or threatening in nature to any individual or to the Department. Staunton Police Department also reserves the right to block/ban “fans” who repeatedly post such material.

Solicitations and advisements of any form will be promptly removed from the Staunton Police Department Facebook page, as the Department is prohibited from the endorsement, solicitation, and/or promotion of any particular product, individual, political affiliation, organization, etc.

The Staunton Police Department is charged with the duty and privilege of protecting and serving all persons within our jurisdiction. We are committed to the prevention of crime; the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace and public order; and the safeguarding of Constitutional guarantees. It is only with the commitment to public cooperation that we can successfully carry out this mission.
