Food was delicious. Pork Belly, Noodles, and dessert were fresh, tasty and delicious. I couldn't be happier with the food and there packaging to go. The restaurant itself isn't up to par for eating in the place, although it may have been at one time, but definitely recommend a to-go order!Food: 5/5
TLDR: ordered 3 items all turned out amazing. Drunken noodle, green curry, tofu grob. Tofu in picture I hate tofu. I always want to try it everywhere I go because it always looks good, but the texture, I just can't do it.. I got this because my girlfriend likes tofu. Plain and simple review... THIS IS DELICIOUS. I had to push myself past the texture to eat more it was so good. The texture still bothered me a little but it was much more bearable than any I've had before the flavor is a bit sweet so if you like a sweeter sauce on your tofu I can't recommend this enough. I also ordered the drunken noodle extra crispy SOFA KING AMAZING! idk how to explain it other than that. It's fantastic. Green curry with white rice was the last thing I ordered. It had a slight kick but pretty mild tbh. I wouldn't order all 3 at the same time again cuz I ate way 2 much, but individually I would order all 3 again depending on what I was craving. I already know I'm gonna be craving those noodles a lot.
This place is a gem! Has a very good selection of south east Asian delicacies. I would love to come back and taste the whole menu. You know it's good when grandpa and grandma patronize the restaurant. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
Comparing to previous OKAY Cafe, they try to go up in level, so lost its economic nature as Chinese foods or Asian foods, too salty with my curry salmon, nice looking anyway.
This place has delicious food and a nice quite environment to come as group and be able to talk. Definitely recommend if you like or want to try Laotian and Thai food. We got a BBQ meat combo plate, por belly, pumpkin curry, Thai sausage, we love them all
Have I mentioned I love to try different foods! Me and my friend was looking to eat at a place that wasn’t a chain type restaurant. And we passed by this one in willow pass, concord on Park n Shop shopping center. The owner actually works there and very nice and attentive. This I would say is Asian Fusion food with exploding tastes. Big food portions I’m all about that with the price that you pay. Which was not expensive at all. Their deserts are unique and several options for drinks! Love, loved it!!!
First when we walked in the place, we loved the spacious room with clean, sparsely design and semi-open kitchen style. Our waitress was friendly and helpful in giving us plenty of recommendations and never rushed us. We tried their most popular signature dish Stix wings and it’s a crowd pleaser, crispy skins with tangy chili sweet sauce, fingers licking good wings. The papaya salad was the perfect companion to the spicy chicken wings, crunchy papaya with cilantro and red onions all mixed in with lime citrus sauce, a perfect palate cleansing. We also ventured the Laotian fermented pork salad with crispy rice which is another perfectly balanced dish with the crunch and mint complimenting the fermented pork, which has a texture of beef tendon. The only dish we didn’t care as much was the fried calamari, the batter was just too heavy. The portion was generous and for three people with six dishes, the average cost was $30 per person with lots of to go boxes.
Take out order dishes Tum Yum chicken soup and Papaya salad. Both dishes were average at best. Papaya salad was a little watery and a little more expensive than expected for the portion they gave. The Tum Yum dish was so so..
I’ve never had Laotian food before so I really have nothing to compare it to. But from the recommendation of the server I tried the khao poon which is a special that’s not actually on the menu. I wanted something soupy and comforting and it perfectly hit the spot. The dish is a red coconut curry soup with large vermicelli noodles, garnished with fresh mint and cilantro. The portion was huuuuge. I think the portions here in general are big. I also ordered a Thai iced coffee and it came in a huge mason jar. I only drank half and asked for a to go cup and it almost filled the to go cup — you’re really getting 2 drinks here. Love that this is a family owned joint. The service was a little slow but everyone was friendly and helpful.
Stix is a really nice looking place. There is plenty of parking and they have beer on tap. Greeted and seated quickly too. I am a big fan of Beef Larb. It's a Laos dish, and Stix advertise itself as a Thai/ Lao Restaurant. I ordered the Beef Larb and was given a Thai Beef Salad. If they didn't have Beef Larb, they should have told me so I could have ordered something else. They gave me a very generous amount of the salad. The salad looks great. However, the salad was drowned in dressing so everything tasted like spicy salad dressing. Very Disappointed.
