About us: The McMaster Family Health Team has two clinical sites: Stonechurch Family Health Centre, and McMaster Family Practce. As an academic family health team, we are a teaching site for the Family Medicine Residency Program at McMaster University, and are affiliated with Hamilton Health Sciences.

Stonechurch Family Health is a great clinic. The doctors are caring and take the time to listen and I never feel rushed out the door. The waiting in the waiting room is usually minimal. The receptionists and other office staff are amazing and I think the nursing practitioners are the best I've ever seen. Stonechurch has many programs and workshop that run throughout the year and theyou cover a very wide range of health and emotional care needs. I don't always get to see my primary care doctor but that's okay because I know that she is monitoring my condition and I get seen quickly by one of her colleagues so I know I'm still getting quality care and support.

We have been with Dr Schabort for about 6 years, and we've finally had enough of her condescending attitude towards my wife's illness. The final straw: A clinic had forwarded instructions to Dr. Schabort, asking her to continue filling prescriptions for my wife's anxiety after the program had been ended. It has been a couple months since then, and our pharmacist just recently submitted a first refill request. Due to no response, it was submitted a total of THREE TIMES in the last six days. Not only did Schabort respond rudely (after the final attempt) to our pharmacist saying "[we] know nothing of this prescription" and to "not contact [her] again about this", WE WERE NOT CONTACTED AT ALL! We didn't find out about this issue until our pharmacy called to alert us! Is it professional to ignore your mentally ill patient's anxiety medication request? A patient you know has had suicidal thoughts and attempts, and you don't contact them at all?! Does she realize what could happen?! Our warning to new patients: If you have a mental illness, do NOT take Dr Schabort as a doctor! She does NOT take your disease seriously. You are an annoyance. - She'll hum and haw over paperwork (referrals, even if needed for Ontario Works paperwork) - Scold and guilt you if you miss appointments (which patients with mental illnesses tend to do!) - Lecture you like a child if you need paperwork done again for the above reason, making you feel guilty for "wasting her time" Any doctor experienced with mental illness knows this is NOT how you deal with your clients. If you have a mental illness, STAY AWAY! Horrible woman! She should NOT be overseeing the training of students from McMaster!

Absolutely wonderful staff, even when I missed my appointment thanks to a delivery service, they managed to squeeze me in the next morning on a Friday no doubt and the 23 of December!

I love going to see my own Doctor here for check ups and serious concerns but it is excellent place if you have non serious concerns and can call and get another Doctor on your team to see you same day
