An amazing experience for the kids! All of the rangers were very helpful and patient with my children. We learned about the Stones River Battle - the museum inside is excellent and the kids were engaged with it while filling out their junior ranger books. The Junior Ranger program is very well done here, and there is an additional pamphlet which can be completed to earn a set of trading cards. Lots of interesting things for adults here as well - this site is beautifully maintained and has a museum, trails, and a driving tour of the battlefield.

Rangers and staff are friendly, welcoming, and extremely knowledgable. The Visitor Center has tons of historical information laid out in an interesting display, and there are many more informative signs along the various trails throughout the park. Seems to be very popular with locals for hikes/walks/jogs, especially on the weekend and after work. If you have kids (or are interested yourself), there are numerous junior ranger activities available.

This is a historically significant Battlefield where Confederate soldiers went up against Union soldiers and hundreds of people lost their lives. There was a certain dedication from the Confederate side who was willing to fight and die to keep slavery as an institution.. Leaders have traditionally whether they were political leaders or business leaders have been willing to send their children to die for a cause that provides them economic benefits. Same situation today. I was standing in this graveyard trying to find or create a photograph that will reflect the basic carnige that occurred here. This is the one I came up with. It's a great place to visit, understand the pain for both sides that it caused for an institution to keep one human subordinate in a slave to another.

Very interesting! Too much to see in just one visit. Looking forward to exploring more. Clara gave a wonderful caravan tour! Watching the movie in the visitor center then seeing the places with her explanations made history come alive.
