I went in for what turned out to be an infected gallbladder. It was the middle of the night and the ER was almost empty, so that helped, I'm sure! But the staff was good, they did all the tests necessary to find out what was wrong with me, they let me take half of my dose of pain medicine when I was worried about how strong it was (although I ended up taking the rest of the dose shortly thereafter upon my request). I was admitted for observation and was able to have surgery the next day. Good nurses, doctors, and nurses' aides.

Been sitting in ER for over 3 hours and still haven't seen the Dr or attending. No one introduces themselves or seems very polite. Attention to detail and sense of urgency is lacking. (They entered the wrong birthday) Any medical attention that has been given has been directed or requested by us. The nurses don't want to listen to us and make ridiculous statements like "I would rather your sugar be high and you have pancreatitis than go low and pass out" OR "we only give IVs when someone can't keep fluids down" to someone that threw up 8 times in an hour. I've gotten better care at a Med Clinic and Urgent Care.

I've been chronically ill for 28 years and this is by far the worst hospital I've ever been treated at. Staff doctors are uncompassionate and incompetent. Had to be transferred to another hospital to save my life. They refused transfer, btw, which is illegal and a family friend had to drive me to the Cleveland Clinic, while praying that I didn't die on the way there. They've dropped the ball with my care on numerous occasions and I wouldn't recommend this hospital or it's doctors to anyone.

My Mom is 93 and we have had her in the hospital many, many times in the last 10 years and up until recently I would have said that the care she received has been good. I have always monitored her care and step in when I feel something need addressed. This time however, the care she received was way below standard. Mom had fallen and suffered a "crushed" tibia, just below the knee. As she is not a candidate for surgery, she was put in a immobilizer brace and then sent to 1 E. Next morning @ 5am I stopped to check on her. her door was close, lights were off and my Mother was frantically calling out for help. (her nurses call button had fallen to the floor. This was unacceptable! 2 days later they were trying to transfer her upstairs to rehab, pain not managed and still bleeding into the break. In Rehab (Saber) her care continued to get worse. I wont detail all the horrors there except to say they dropped her bad leg TWICE, a UTI went unnoticed and then her lungs started junking up. She spiked a fever and I was told it would take 24 hr for the culture and then they would put her on antibiotics. I had to make them call the Doctor and get a broad spectrum antibiotic ordered. Two day later I had to insist that they send her to emergency room. ER treated her with steroids and then returned her to Saber. 2 Days later I had to repeat the demand to send her to ER. (she was in heart failure) I will say the the Doctor Finally stepped up his game and began aggressive treatment. We put our faith and trust in the medical profession. They take the oath to Do no Harm. They are supposed to be experts. We certainly pay for the privilege to be cared for by them. But tell me...What happens to the people that come into their care that don't have a family member that keeps vigilant or ask questions ?

My mother went to the ER with chest pains and jaw soreness. Once she was there they performed an EKG and blood work. She was feeling better and wanted to leave however the physician advised her to stay and have a Nuclear Stress test. She was then admitted. The night nurse had an attitude and was rude. No one would communicate to my mother what was happening to her. The next morning she asked when her stress test would be and she was told that there wasn't an order for a stress test in her chart. She then asked when a doctor would be in to see her. She was told that an "on call" physician would be there within 48 hours. The nurses were not at all concerned with my mother's questions. They wouldn't convey any information about her blood work to her or offer her an exact time at which the physician would be there. She then signed herself out AMA. When asked if she could be wheel chaired out, she was told that she was no longer a patient and she'd have to find her own way out. I should add that she has had excruciating back pain for about a year now and it was exasperated by this whole episode. Seriously? Physicians don't make morning rounds anymore? Patients aren't kept informed of their Care Plan? What type of hospital has this become?
