I've gotten to know the men and women of the Sumter Police Department. This is a very professional and community engaging department.

I came to Sumpter to watch the eclipse and stayed a a local hotel. Everything and everyone was so polite. Not even knowing we were from out of state 500 miles from home. The place smiled and waved. I've not been to South Carolina before. The eclipse brought me. I am over 55 and the sad part was we decided to travel to the beach, and drove towards the town of horror Terbeville. If only your town could post signs that if you choose to travel east into that town to use extream caution in speed. We were a victim of their money grabbing set up. We have no record of any violations. The sad point to adding this comment is just that a polite place is so close to a devius group a just a few police in a town less then my farm land. I didn't know and this makes South Carolina a scary place to out siders.. Thanks Sumpter police for a great and safe inviroment.

I just finish reading the wonderful story about one of your officer and a 13 year old young man... I would like to say that the decision that Officer Gaetano Acerra made was the work of our Lord Jesus Christ....... Also I like how Officer Acerra answered the call, and examine the situation and decided that this is now a police call and turned and walked away...... It is our job as adults is to listen to children when they are trying to talk to you and just push them away, say u dont have time right now, or get out of my face.... im tired.........Tell Officer Acerra that I will start praying for his safety when he is on duty and in his personal life.......... My name is Franceen Dozier and i reside in mount vernon, ga.... could i get cameron simmons address so i can send him some things.and maybe phone number please ask his mother....
