Sunset Beach is cute but very small, which means it was quite crowded when I got there. It seems that there might be other access points to other sand beaches up river, but not being a local I didn't know where to park or walk, particularly since it seems a lot of the river front is private property. 

I would recommend doing a bit of research about other access points before heading out there. All in all, it was a good place to set a towel down and jump into the shallow river.

 Get here early if you want to park,  much bigger lot at steelhead.  The walk to the beach access also fairly long so if carrying a ton be aware.  Still they did a nice job accommodating the beach goers Abd the facilities are clean and the area nicely graded etc.  Good spot to end a float on the river.

It was fine. It was a river. I lay next to it for a while and watched things float by.

Good bend to fish when possible not often though  buying a Sonoma county park pass gets you access to more river beaches and coast spots  like this river one it pays for its self $7 one time or $69 for the year and  enjoy beautiful Sonoma county

Great place to take the family, nice wading area and another area with a faster current for floating down river.
