We have been here several times. The first 2 visits they were out of Chicken & Dumplings. On the third visit I was able to order them. Taste & flavor was excellent but there was not much chicken. For the price they could have included a side salad. I like the neighborhood feel and hope they do well.

If only they used something other than cheap Styrofoam cups for softdrinks and plastic for beer. Hard to pay over $10 for food when you do not have hard plastic or glass cups. They have a nice porch area that is way to cold to sit in during the winter, heaters would be nice. What saves this place is the food. I had the 1/2 chicken and it was very good, baked and juicy, the cole slaw is good and the sweet potatoes come with marshmallow. The others in my party had the chicken and dumplings and they said it was good. Also cold sweet potato bread is less appetizing than warm bread.

As much as I would like to give them a better rating. This place is just so/so. Went on a Saturday afternoon, and wanted some chicken wings, and our waitress said she had to check because they were out on Friday. Still out on Saturday. Husband ordered chef salad. Where's the tomatoes? Daughters pulled pork sandwich was very good. The beef stroganoff was very, very salty. Did bring to cooks attention, he said he would check it out. All in all, I to didn't like paper cups for drinks and coffee. My advice, a little pricey for the neighborhood and for what you get. I'm not going to be a return customer.

Great neighborhood restaurant. Went for dinner and it was a friendly atmosphere and delicious home cooking! Service was excellent and a great wine list too. Nice outdoor seating and a cozy bar. Definitely a must try!

I thought I would try out the new restaurant in town. I was sorely disappointed. I was first greeted and offered the bar and then outside. A party of one is entitled to a table too. I ordered the pot roast with garlic mashed potatoes and a side salad. The food all came out at once and the pot roast was mostly fat. The potatoes were just instant potatoes with no garlic whatsoever. The salad was just romaine lettuce with one cherry tomato and one slice of cucumber and the tiniest bit of dressing (1/3 of a small plastic cup). I was never served my bread. Drinks are served in plastic cups. At least the food was on a regular plate! My server dropped off the food and then the check, never checking on me at all. After Hot Rod's was forced to close, I was hoping for something decent. I certainly will not be back. Twelve dollars for what I was served was definitely NOT worth it.
