My family had a delicious dinner at Sushi Roku. Great location to for those visiting pier, promenade, or after a afternoon of shopping. The vibe of the restaurant is upbeat, on trend, and almost club-y but in a really VIP way. The food is very good. Ordered many dishes and all were delicious. Not one complaint. My 7 year old son ordered the ramen and they specialized it for his taste not spicy and he LOVED IT! Good for families, maybe not pre-school age. Didn’t see kid’s menu. I’d come back again for more yokitori. Prices add up quick. $200+ for 3 people with 1 alcohol and 2 non- alcohol drinks.
It's an upscale spot. I came in for the Happy Hour, 4-6 on Saturday. Christian was our bartender, on point, very accommodating, and had some stellar suggestions for food and beverages. Made us a drink called The Slope: gin, aperol, lillet, lemon and orange curacao Brussels Sprout Chips are light and airy, crunchy. Just the right occasional bite of salt. Not overbearing at all. It's a decent sized bowl. Hanabi Crispy Rice is a one bite delight for sure. The yellow tail is smooth and Fresh. Paired with the crispy rice, you get texture and taste all in one. 4 pieces. Japanese Fried Chicken: the presentation is nice. My only gripe is that the chicken inside seemed just a bit too stringy for my liking. It's still good. I think how the chicken is cut before they bread and fry it makes a huge difference. Seems like they cut it with the grain, not against the grain. Anyways, I would finish with the Chilean Seabass Skewer. 1 skewer per order, cut into 4 thumb sized sections. Buddy of mine ordered the Old Osaka, which is kind of like an Old Fashioned. Traditional, with a bit of a kick, and not as much of a sugar aftertaste. It's also been described as "An old fashioned with Japanese Whiskey. 1/4 oz sugar, and dashes of bitters."
My first time trying wagyu sushi and it was worth the $28! Shrimp was amazing! I recommend! View is fabulous of course!!
We went for the oysters but they said they were seasonal so they didn't have any. We ended up ordering appetizers and drinks. We had the wagyu gyosas dumplings, calamari appetizers and drinks: roku fusion and everything zen. Service was great!Food: 5/5
We decided to try this place for lunch. Menu for sushi was limited and pricy. The flavors were just bland. Tried the soft shell crab roll very bland. Fried calamari was okay but sauce was good. Service very average. Eastern pear was okay nothing special. Definitely will pass on going here again. Spoke to manager who seemed genuinely concerned about our experience and took care of the issues
Fresh food. Pair your sushi with Dassai 23 sake. Chef Jason is great and friendly.
Very good, if not truly exceptional, sushi and Japanese cuisine-- about what you would expect for the price point. The ocean view from the outdoor dining area is reason enough for a visit. Vegetarian options: Lots of excellent vegetarian options. The appetizers in particular are worth a look.
It was nice enough. The sushi isn’t exceptional and was pretty basic for the price point. But good service.
Good service. Hostesses were friendly and caring. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. Edamames were delicious. Senshi rolls were delicious. Chilean Sea Bass Skewer was delicious. Garden salad was delicious and a generous portion. Tempura was just okay. Gin and tonic was strong! Will be back and highly recommend.
Maybe I'm just spoiled by good sushi back in Vancouver. I assumed that any place to with higher prices would have great sushi. The menu is really quite small. I wouldn't go on out of my way to recommend and I guess when you're one of the very few sushi places on Ocean Ave there isn't alot of competition.
