About

Sweet P’s second location, the Downtown Dive, was born out of our love for classic American dive bars and barbeque joints.

Story

Sweet P's BBQ will be opened a second location in Downtown Knoxville Spring 2015! Headed by front man Chris Ford who shifted his artistic style from music to culinary arts of slow cooked foods, Sweet P's Barbecue and Downtown Dive will bring you the same Smokin' Menu and Soulful Charm folks have come to expect from the Sweet P's name.

Specializing in the art of smoked foods Sweet P’s prides itself on doing things the right way in the tradition of it’s southern heritage...slow and low. The menu is a fresh take on soul food classics turning old favorites into Sweet P’s originals. Everything is made daily using fresh ingredients and the highest quality of meats.

Sweet P's Barbecue and Soul House, opened to rave reviews in the spring of 2009. With it’s family juke joint atmosphere and great entertainment not to mention the award winning food Sweet P’s garnered local praise and national media attention. Amazing! Everything is made from scratch. There mac and cheese is to the for. The meat are the best I've had for a BBQ place. It's fast friendly service and cheap. How could anyone complain about that. I haven't tried the desserts yet but I'm sure they are amazing as well!

Listen, I came of age in a barbecue town, so when I say it’s good I mean it. I was skeptical as the staff is not what I expect of barbecue master but they certainly delivered. I had the brisket which was perfectly tender and flavored. My fiancé had the ribs....I tried to eat as much of those as he would let me. They were insanely good. The Mac n cheese was impressive as was the coleslaw. I had the greens, which were also good but honestly, just get double Mac n cheese. It was that good. Fair priced. Fast. Good customer service!

Great tasting food. Flavor is great and food is very good. Try the tomato & blues salad. Staff are very nice and offer a very warm welcome as well as great recommendations to new customers on which items are more popular and portion size. They are also flexible on customizing your order. Place has several TVs on which you can watch sports, and it has an outdoor area you can use in the spring/fall time when the weather is nice. Wonderful experience all around. Must try.

I will give 2 stars for great customer service. Otherwise I would not recommend this "BBQ Dive". The brisket was dry and served at about room temp. The Mac and cheese was below average and also served at room temperature. The green beans had no flavor, and also served at room temperature. My husband got the BBQ burrito and it was hardly worthy of being called that. Very disappointment with this recommendation. To top it all off you have to pay for parking for this place. I wouldn't recommend unless all you want are smiling faces.

Excellent service and atmosphere. The brisket and the wings were both excellent, but neither the green beans or the macaroni and cheese were quite what I was expecting. The price was a little higher than I expected; two plates with drinks came in almost at $40 - neither plate was ribs.
