This food used to be the best like straight from Mexico. Now since pandemic started they've scaled back on preparation. I just went December 1st, 2020. I ordered 10 steak and 10 chicken tacos. The tacos were smaller and meat wasn't seasoned. I could of saved my money and got my behind up and made my own delicious tacos for way less. Also, I went month before and ordered some chicken wings and they were so salty I couldn't eat 1/2 a wing. They used to be the best but times done changed - mainly their previous bossing cook who threw down on the grill. I loved eating there but I will never ever make that mistake again! I wish I could work there with their ingredients and help cook. I'm good like that. I want them same dang gone tacos, chicken wings and Guacamole with chips I used to order.
The service was very helpful. Being from Texas we like hot spicy food . I had gotten some very bland Mexican food in Tenn and was left with a bad feeling about northern Mexican food. I was very happy to find a waitress that recommended some very tasty food. I would eat here on a regular basis if I lived in the areaFavorite Mexican by far. Food is delicious and service is fast and friendly. Family owned and run. We are blessed to have em in this restaurant starved town.Best place around for Mexican food. Friendly, great service, fantastic food. Every time we go, we are satisfied.Good food & service. Inexpensive. Good atmosphere. Good place to go with your friends have a good meal & a few margaritas.
One of my favorite places taco are delicious!! You can feed your whole family for a reasonable price. Great customer service, clean environment, fresh food, and they are quick. A taco a day keeps the doctor away! Lol
I'm not sure of this is correct. Restaurant next to Citgo by old St James. This place is HORRIBLE! Order was all wrong, food was old. I can go on! Not trying to knock a business down but this was bad! $70 down the drain. OH yeah the DC/CC receipt it was from a Hammond smoke shop. Also to the owner place is filthy! That should have been my sign but now I want to give business to our locals. Not here! Las Asadas is a no go! STAY AWAY!
I think they have new management, I still like this place but the quality of food has gone down tremendously since last year, and it always smells like old grease in there. So all I get now is cheese nachos no meat. Or chips n cheese. Still very nice people.
I used to swear by taco jr.! we would drive for miles and rave to anyone we knew about how this was our favorite Mexican restaurant. We movedo away for a year or so. When we came back it was totally different. The food was no longer fresh. The inside looked torn down. And the food had goNE from excellent to standard to disgusting. I gave it a few tries for old times sake but it looks like the original taco jr. Is gone to stay!
2/16/17 - I USED TO LIKE THIS PLACE! The food is really good, don't get me wrong. . .HOWEVER, my experience yesterday 2/15/17 changed my entire perspective of this establishment. The cashier Monica swiped my card and tells me it declines but I told her that couldn't be because a text alert from my bank notified me of the money being withdrawn. She and the cook were adamant about it not going through and I even called my bank so they could hear that the transaction processed. She swiped my card again for my food and of course it goes through so I end up paying DOUBLE. She swore that in 24 hours my money would be put back on my card and it WAS NOT. I had her sign to say the money should be back in 24 hours. I drive all the way there today 24 hours later after checking my account to see the money was NOT put back and mysteriously they are not open. The hours on their door show they're open everyday. There is no one to call and speak to. After even trying to call the place myself to see if I could leave a message, the call doesn't go through "We're sorry, the call cannot be completed as dialed" as if the phone service is disconnected. Even the attendant in the Citgo gas station that they're apart of said they should be open and usually are busy at this time. I'm completely displeased and pissed off! If anyone goes here I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE CASH!!!!!!
Best service, food, and prices anywhere! Love them and the food so much! Definitely a weekly must stop dinner destination for my family!! Check them out if you're in the Chicago Heights area!
Had a huge feed with a friend here today. Chips, Salsa, Guacamole, Quesadillas, Chicken Tacos, Beans, Rice, a Breaded Steak Torta, and a couple of Coronas. Everything was outstanding! Special props to the breaded steak - super delicious! The room keeps you in a constant state of pleasant distraction - there are huge colorful murals on the walls, colored lights in the ceiling, rows and rows of tables and chairs, and a big Virgen de Guadalupe keeping watch over all. The service staff are quite fun. Playful actually - showing mock offense at my calling my "torta" a "sandwich." And a little bit flirty in that diner way - hitting us with a couple "guapos" here and there too, which was charming. We wanted to try the flan - but unfortunately they were out. This was the only disappointment - but no worries. We'll be back again.
