I recently visited this taco restaurant and had a mixed experience. I called in my order ahead of time, but when I arrived, I still had to wait for about 20 minutes. Despite only five people sitting down eating and four employees visible, it seemed a bit disorganized with more people in the back. On the plus side, the tacos were quite good, although I ordered corn, and it didn't have that grilled flavor I was expecting; it had more of a boiled taste to them. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the restaurant's cleanliness, including the bathrooms, was commendable. However, the service left me with some doubts, given the wait time despite my pre-order. Overall, the food quality and ambiance were nice, but the service could use some improvement. I was gonna give the place 3 stars but since my corn is watery and taste more like boiled and I’m not going to eat it because it’s not what I wanted. I feel like I wasted my money so I’m only giving 2 stars. The lake worth location is so much better and they would never have their corn in water!!!!! It suppose to be grilled not boiled or set in water.
We have been coming g to Taco Al Carbon for years started at the Lake Worth and Military to Dixie Highway in Lake Worth which was by far the BEST location to date, so sad it closed the staff there was the best most of them moved to the Palm Beach Lakes location. But I am guessing the all left. The staff now is very slow, it takes WAY to long to get your food and no one comes around to check on you when dinning in. The cook's are not good and takes way to long to push the food out. It is a shame because it could be a great hangout spot if you want drinks and stuff but this is a definite turn off. Looking for new taco spot.
This restaurant was on my to-go list ever since it opened last year: I love the success story of this family, who started their business just with food trucks and from there they managed to grow and open several restaurants! It’s located close to the Outlet Mall, on the very busy Palm Beach Lakes and offers some parking. As a reference for us “older people: they are where Ale House used to be. The restaurant is very big and simply, yet nicely, decorated. They have a big dining room inside, a big bar, a big outdoor patio with a long bar as well, and another outdoor space that was empty when we visited them. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and sat at their bar. At that time they still had several people sitting in the dining room. We both had a margarita: big but pretty bland; and the salsa that came with the complimentary tacos was pretty tasteless as well. We decided to share an order of tacos. First of all they had way too much shredded cheese on them, which immediately makes them not authentic, but we were told that they were trying to adjust and appeal to the American taste. Second, the meat in them wasn’t that great. The bartender was very friendly though and convinced us to try the Michelada, which is a typical Mexican drink – basically a Bloody Mary made with beer instead of vodka. It was good, but maybe a little bit too much in quantity for my taste. Their prices are a little bit on the expensive side. I don’t think I’ll come back to try other dishes: there are other Mexican restaurants around here that are cheaper, more authentic and less expensive.
Chips and salsa were not that good, the chips should come out hot and no thought was put into the salsa options, just basic rojo and verde. The caldo de pescado was okay—could use more fish and the portion is very large. Drinks were good. Ceviche de pescado also okay, but had to reorder because it came with things that were not specified and allergens. Be very specific with your preferences when ordering food. Fish tacos were okay, but a bit salty. There’s a cool outdoor seating area with nice lights. Tuesdays they have a DJ inside.
I wasn’t very impressed with this place to be honest; actually not impressed at all. Is it bad? No, it’s not, but can’t find one thing to be excited about it and that would make me go back. The place is very spacious but has a bit of a cafeteria feeling, not very warm. The server was actually good, nice to talk to and efficient; probably the best part of the whole thing. Margaritas are large but lack taste completely: light, watered down, just not hitting any spot. To be honest, it’s the margarita you find in most places in this area, full of prepared mix, 1 oz of tequila, maybe, rarely 1.5, tons of ice…huge, because quantity often dominates quality around here. Still, the fact that most of local “Mexican” places have lousy margaritas doesn’t justify you doing the same. Next item, salsa and chips. The salsas have zero taste or heat, they actually taste like coming from a can. Tacos were nothing to write home, actually below average; full of shredded cheese, but little meat and not of good quality. To this you must add the fact that prices are a bit expensive for this type of food especially for the quality of it so it just gives no reason to return.
My experience with this particular location has not been a good one. My second time coming to this location was yesterday. We entered the restaurant about 30mins prior to closing. When we approached the hostess, she told us to "wait" without making eye contact and proceeded to attend to something else. After about 2 mins, the manager finally addressed us and we asked if they were still accepting food orders, in which she said yes. I ordered a shrimp quesadia and this is what they gave me. The following daytoday I called to see if this was a mistake, but the manager expressed this is how their food should look. I shared with the manager that I've eaten quesadias on numerous occasions and they are usually cut, sealed, and flattened; and then asked how would a patron know their quesadias are unlike the norm if there are no photos or a description under the menu item. I never got an answer to that, but hopefully this photo will help future customers. The inside is spacious and clean.
Tacos Al carbon is really out here trying it with these Uber Eats orders. Portions are getting smaller and smaller. Highly disappointed.Food: 2/5
None of the dishes were good. We tried various tacos, some labeled as spicy with zero spice to them at all. Everything lacked flavor or any amount of authenticity. This was Americanized "Mexican" at best. The silverware was filthy, we had to ask for a spoon when served soup... overall, this place was a huge disappointment.Food: 1/5
So let's start off by saying I've had their food before which is why I went to actually dine in. It was weird coming into a place that is supposedly Mexican but the restaurant's theme looks very nautical. But I came for the food. As we were seated she handed us a menu, asked us if we wanted a drink, to which we responded "where is the beverages". She scampered away brought us another menu asked us if we needed a minute to look it over to which we replied we did. She left and we didn't see her for a WHILE. She was doing her thing, not paying attention to anyone but her colleague and her drink. We were finally served but she didn't even asked if we needed another drink or anything. As we waited and waited for a check, we realized that we had to get up to pay. Which we were not aware of. They didn't care it seemed for the only two tables that didn't have a Hispanic person in it. They only cared about the family of Hispanics that were there. Bare it, there only was three tables and the guys at the bar, so it wasn't busy. If I didn't thoroughly enjoy the birria taco I would never order again. But I guess I have to settle for pick up.
The shredded chicken needs to be seasoned, it is VERY bland no flavor at all. The veggies & cilantro is not going to help much. The lake worth location is better on the flavor part. Months ago I ordered one of the soups & the chicken was also not taken off the bones. Very inconvenient when you order food & have to take it off the bones. Overall I love this location staff is very friendly & environment is nice setting.
