Hands down the BEST Indian food in New England imo we basically ordered everything and it’s so flavorful and delicious! The service was also great! Definitely worth driving up from MA for!
Taj has the best Indian Cuisine in Manchester in my opinion. Really fresh and tasty. I recently had the lunch buffet and lots of delicious choices. See photo. A nice atmosphere for dine in with plenty of comfortable seating too. Don’t just take my opinion, The Hilton Honors Dining program has recognized Taj as a 5 star restaurant in downtown and will be actively promoting them in the hotels. Congratulations Taj! October Marriott Rewards Diners earn 8 points at Taj from Marriott "Eat Around Town". That is awesome.
Just did a pickup order, I live 20 mins away. We have ordered a couple dozen times either dine in or pickup over the years and loved it but tonight they forgot to give me rice. I called, they told me I could drive back and pick it up, it's 830pm. They have no drivers, wouldn't compensate me at all. In addition, he-the manager-called me a liar-he watched his son pack my bag- hung up on me and then wouldn't pick up the phone on my return call. Totally unacceptable and really disappointing. I will never eat there again in addition to submitting a stop payment on my CC and bringing the food back to them my next trip to Elm St. I hate posting these types of reviews, but this was so exceptionally distasteful I felt it necessary.
We ordered Chickem 65, which looked tempting but was a total tasted disaster. Tangy as hell and hard, chewable as tyres. Chicken wasn't fresh
The food here is absolutely amazing and the customer service as well. I'm a truck driver from Florida but you better believe I'll be getting another load to this region just to come grab a plate of this delicious authentic food.
Very disappointed at the service. Was looking forward to having Indian food and called ahead since I was driving from 45 min away and they told me they close at 2:30 when I showed up just after 2:00 the waiter told me the kitchen closes in 15 minutes and I wouldn't be able to eat. Come on, try to be more accommodating, on my way out the door he offered i can do take out after he told me i can't eat because kitchen closes. At that point it was too late, maybe offer that first before you tell a hungry customer they can't eat.
The food here was AMAZING!!! A little back story. My boyfriend and I had the longest day ever and all I wanted was to try this restaurant out. I'm from NJ, on town working and I have a thing for East Indian food. Anywho, we get there around 9ish, it's right at the point where the whole covid19 restriction thing is beginning to subside and they're seating outside for the most part. Finally find a parking space, get to the restaurant and wouldn't you know it.... they're talking the chairs and tables back inside and preparing to close. MAJOR BUMMER!!! I forget their names but I approached the young lady and man breaking down the outside dining section. They really were about to close down for the night. I told them my situation, promised if they'd let us have a table I'd personally assist them with clearing and storing the tables and chairs. Reluctantly, the young lady agrees and we sit down for dinner. Imagine this, it's 9pm, we're in Manchester, it's a perfect summer night complete with breeze! We're the only diners on this perfect little corner with minimal traffic and we're surrounded by weekend nightlife! It was like something out of a 90's "Romcom" starring Tom Hanks and Julia Robert's. I couldn't have scripted this any better. Now, we order: We started off with the Coconut Shrimp and Pakora as an appetizer. ONE WORD, PHENOMENAL!!! The shrimp were perfectly coated. The coconut flavor and texture clearly indicated that this wasn't your garden variety, shaken from a bag, run of the mill commercial grade coconut. I wanna say they shave it fresh, try to convince me of anything different and I will no longer respect your opinion on fresh prepared food. The shrimp, not even close to being overcooked. Firm, juicy, sweet and pleasantly portioned! The Pakora? Not as many veggies as in used to having but delicious all the same! It wasn't overbattered, not too dense, and every flavor I know I should taste was all but jumping out at me with every single bite! Now, we dine: If your not accustomed to or don't have much experience with Traditional East Indian food, I HIGHLY recommend starting out with THALI. There's a vegetarian and non-vegetarian option that gives a brief glimpse into what Indian is and how diverse it can be. You receive 8 cups, each with a different dish, throw in some Naan and you've got yourself a meal my friend! Again, it left nothing to be desired as far as taste, portion or presentation. I couldn't have been more satisfied! This is definitely my go to spot for East Indian food when I'm in town. I may try others honestly but my heart will always belong to Taj India! Where hospitality meets great food and sits upon a foundation of modern day ambiance. Thanks for the memory!
My fiancé and I enjoyed the restaurant at this location very much! We loved the atmosphere, the music, the cleanliness of the place, and most importantly the food! We ordered the lunch buffet, the taj special appetizer, and desserts. The lunch buffet is the best bang for your buck. It comes out on a big tin tray that takes you back to school days. However, the amount of food they give was so much. The best part is that you can ask for another tray. The only thing about the buffet is that it comes out as the same thing when you ask for more. They give you masala chicken, basmati rice, naan, chickpeas, fried onion, and veggie curry. So if you finish the first dish, that’s the same items for the second. The desserts there are really good. However, they are rather small for its price. We got the gulab jamun and mango milkshake. The gulab jamun was about the size of golf balls. Beware though that a mango milkshake is just another mango lassi. What I noticed immediately when we walked in was the cleanliness; the women’s bathroom was so clean! Recommend you guys to come here! Parking: Parking meters along the street
Food was authentic, flavorful, and fanomanal...Faff?!! Food was faff! Lol Anyways the lamb fell apart, the masala was stupid good, the goat curry was phenomenal ....the merchants fee and taxes! Hard to chew. Not blaming the vendor, and I feel their pain....just sad we all have to live in a time where the business is forced to charge the consumer $4.67 merchants fee, then state tax, then federal taxes, then location/view.....yep
We went there for a girls night out with my mom & grandma, The food was sooo good but the desserts were even more delicious. The waiters were all kind and helpful. We had a great time.
